Rice prices today, August 15th: Rice prices increased across the board, with increases ranging from 50 to 500 VND.

Rice prices today, August 15th: Rice prices in the Mekong Delta are seeing a widespread increase.

In An Cu (Soc Trang), due to limited supply and sluggish trading, high-quality rice is expensive and difficult to buy.

In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), although the supply is not abundant, warehouses are still buying steadily, leading to a slight increase in prices.

Overall, today's rice market shows that high-quality rice is not abundant, but purchases from warehouses remain at a fairly good level.

The price of IR 504 summer-autumn rice is 11,700 - 11,750 VND/kg, a slight increase of 50 - 100 VND/kg compared to the previous day.

Finished IR 504 rice is currently priced at 13,750 - 13,850 VND/kg, an increase of 150 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, at retail markets, rice prices remained unchanged, with Nang Nhen rice being the most expensive at 30,000 VND/kg. Other varieties such as Jasmine rice, Nang Hoa rice, and regular white rice ranged from 15,000 VND/kg to 21,000 VND/kg.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province has updated today's rice prices, with IR 50404 fluctuating between 7,500 and 8,000 VND/kg, an increase of 100-400 VND/kg.

Other rice varieties such as Dai Thom 8, OM 5451, and OM 18 also saw price increases ranging from 50 VND/kg to 500 VND/kg.

On the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained unchanged compared to the previous day. According to a report from the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the price of 100% broken rice is currently 440 USD/ton; standard 5% broken rice remains stable at 570 USD/ton; and 25% broken rice is priced at 536 USD/ton.

In recent years, China has strengthened quality standards for imported goods, especially rice. For premium rice varieties such as fragrant rice, glutinous rice, and ST24 rice, the requirements for quality and packaging design are very high.

However, in the mid-range segment, Chinese importers prioritize cheaper rice for processing, making it difficult for Vietnamese businesses to compete with producers from other countries.

According to the Vietnam Trade Office in China, China's rice import quota has not changed significantly in recent years, with only 21 Vietnamese enterprises licensed to export rice, out of approximately 200 eligible enterprises.

The quality of rice on the Chinese market is very high, and other exporting countries focus on product packaging, with attractive packaging that suits the preferences of Chinese consumers, such as rice from Thailand and Laos.

According to Nong Duc Lai, Commercial Counselor in China, China not only has a large demand for rice but is also the world's leading rice producer. He recommended that Vietnamese businesses closely monitor the Chinese rice market and regularly update information to seize opportunities and respond promptly to changes.

Fragrant rice and premium rice varieties such as ST24 and ST25 are popular in China. Vietnamese businesses need to maintain and expand their market share, while also building a strong brand for Vietnamese rice in this market.
