On the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association, 100% broken rice was priced at US$439/ton. Standard 5% broken rice was priced at US$537/ton. 25% broken rice was priced at US$509/ton.

The Thai Rice Exporters Association forecasts an increase in rice exports this year, despite the country's recent flooding.

Chookiat Ophaswongse, president of the association, said the consequences of the September floods on rice production are still unclear, but major rice-producing areas in northeastern Thailand were unaffected. Chookiat estimated this year's rice production would reach 33-34 million tons, higher than last year's 32 million tons.

Water availability for next year's rice crop is considered a crucial factor, with the Bhumibol Dam currently holding only 71% of its maximum capacity.

Rice cultivation in central Thailand is considered risk-free unless there are typhoons.

In the first nine months of the year, Thailand exported 7 million tons of rice. Rice exports are expected to continue to increase due to current order demand and the impact of India's rice export ban.

However, there are concerns about competition in rice exports next year if India continues to export white rice. India has a price advantage over Thailand, and fluctuations in the baht could affect Thailand's competitiveness in the rice export market.
