Vietnam's export rice prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday, with 100% broken rice priced at $455/ton, standard 5% broken rice at $565/ton, and 25% broken rice at $535/ton.
By mid-September, Vietnam had exported approximately 6.5 million tons of rice, earning $4.06 billion, an increase of 6.2% in volume and 21.2% in value compared to the previous year.
Vietnamese rice is very popular in Southeast Asia, especially in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
The Philippines was the largest customer, purchasing 2.81 million tons of rice worth nearly $1.72 billion, an increase of 19.6% in volume and 39.8% in value compared to the previous year.
Indonesia purchased 913,900 tons of rice, worth $557.8 million, an increase of 27.3% in volume and 54.4% in value compared to 2023.
Malaysia, with its purchase of 582,900 tons of rice worth $345.9 million, has become Vietnam's third-largest rice export market, surpassing China.
Forecasting rice prices for the remaining months of the year is difficult, but prices are not expected to fall due to scarce supply. Damage from storms and floods in the North, with over 200,000 hectares of rice fields submerged, is also affecting rice supply.
