Rice prices today, January 19th: Market remains stable, average export prices fall sharply.
The rice market in the Mekong Delta remained stable on January 19th. Statistics for 2025 show exports reaching 8 million tons, but the value is expected to decrease by more than 27% compared to 2024.
On the morning of January 19th, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region remained stable, with no new fluctuations compared to previous trading sessions. Both the domestic and export markets continued to maintain sideways price levels amidst a balanced supply.
Trends in rice prices in the domestic market.
In An Giang province, the price of fresh rice today fluctuated within a narrow range. Specifically, high-quality rice varieties such as OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 were purchased by traders at 6,300 – 6,500 VND/kg. OM 5451 rice maintained a price of 5,600 – 5,800 VND/kg, while the popular IR 50404 variety was around 5,500 – 5,600 VND/kg.
For other rice varieties, OM 34 rice maintained its price at 5,400 – 5,500 VND/kg and OM 4218 was traded in the range of 6,000 – 6,200 VND/kg.

In the rice segment, the price of raw rice for export continues to remain stable. OM 18 and OM 5451 rice are stable at 8,500 – 8,600 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice fluctuates from 8,650 – 8,750 VND/kg. Other raw rice varieties such as IR 504, Soc Thom, CL 555, or OM 380 maintain prices in the range of 7,300 to nearly 7,800 VND/kg. For finished rice, IR 504 is currently offered at 9,500 – 9,700 VND/kg.
In the retail market, prices remain stable. Nang Nhen rice maintains the highest price at around 28,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai rice is at 22,000 VND/kg, and Thai long-grain fragrant rice ranges from 20,000 to 22,000 VND/kg. Other popular rice varieties such as Jasmine rice and common white rice retain their previous prices.
Rice export prices and the overall picture in 2025
On the world market, the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) reports that export rice prices remain stable. Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains is priced at 420-440 USD/ton, Jasmine rice at 446-450 USD/ton, and 100% broken rice at 319-323 USD/ton.
Data compiled for 2025 shows significant fluctuations in export value. Specifically, Vietnam exported over 8.06 million tons of rice, worth $4.103 billion. Compared to 2024, export volume decreased by 10.8%, but value plummeted by a sharp 27.6%.
Notably, the average export price in 2025 is only about 509 USD/ton, significantly lower than the 627.2 USD/ton of 2024. Thus, each ton of exported rice in the past year has decreased in value by about 118 USD compared to the previous year.
