Rice price today January 2, 2025: Finished rice increased slightly, rice price remained stable
On January 2, 2025, the price of finished rice in the Mekong Delta region recorded a slight increase, while the price of paddy remained stable. Transactions in many localities were slow, with limited buying and selling volume.
Domestic rice prices
In Long An and Soc Trang, rice trading is slow due to rice waiting to be harvested and few buyers. In Dong Thap, traders are mainly exploring the market, with no significant buying and selling activities. In Bac Lieu, trading is also quiet as traders have stopped buying in large quantities.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of rice of all kinds fluctuates between 6,600 and 9,200 VND/kg. IR 504 raw rice costs from 9,000 to 9,150 VND/kg, while IR 504 finished rice increases by 100 VND/kg, reaching 10,700 to 10,800 VND/kg.
At retail markets, rice prices remained stable compared to yesterday. Regular rice costs between VND17,000 and VND18,000 per kilogram, while fragrant rice and specialty rice such as Nang Nhen, Jasmine, and Huong Lai range from VND20,000 to VND28,000 per kilogram.
The price of by-products such as fragrant rice bran and dry bran ranges from 5,900 - 8,000 VND/kg.
Export rice price
In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices were stable, with 5% standard rice at $481/ton and 100% broken rice at $383/ton.
In 2024, Vietnam's rice exports will reach a record 9 million tons, earning 5.8 billion USD, up 10.6% in volume and 23% in value compared to 2023. The Philippines continues to be the largest import market, with a turnover of nearly 2.5 billion USD, up 57.2% over the same period.
According to the forecast of the US Department of Agriculture, the global rice supply in 2025 will increase, with export output expected to reach 56.3 million tons. Import demand in major markets such as the Philippines, China, and Nepal is also expected to increase, opening up development opportunities for Vietnamese rice.
