At retail markets, rice prices have remained almost unchanged. OM 5451 rice costs from 7,200 to 7,400 VND/kg.

OM 18 rice is priced from 7,500 to 7,800 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.

OM 380 rice costs from 7,200 to 7,300 VND/kg.

Japanese rice price remains stable from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.

The highest price of dried Nang Nhen rice is 20,000 VND/kg.

By-product price today October 22, 2024

The price of by-products currently ranges from 5,900 - 9,600 VND/kg. Specifically, the price of OM 5451 broken rice is at 9,500 - 9,600 VND/kg, and the price of dry bran is from 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg.

The glutinous rice market has not changed. The price of Long An IR 4625 sticky rice (dried) remains stable at 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg, while the price of Long An 3-month sticky rice (dried) remains at 9,800 - 10,000 VND/kg.

Rice export price today

Vietnam's rice export prices remained unchanged from yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the price of 100% broken rice was $439 per ton, 5% standard rice was $534 per ton, and 25% broken rice was $506 per ton.

Severe flooding caused by heavy monsoon rains and upstream flooding occurred twice in August and October, killing at least 75 people, according to the Bangladesh Agriculture Ministry. The floods have severely affected millions of people, especially in the eastern and northern regions where crops have been severely damaged.

The floods have significantly reduced rice production. The Bangladesh government is importing 500,000 tonnes of rice and will allow the private sector to join in.
