Rice prices today November 25, 2024: Domestic and export markets continue to move sideways. Vietnamese rice prices remain the highest in the world
Domestic rice prices
Rice prices in the Mekong Delta region today continue to be stable.
Updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province show that the price of IR 50404 rice (fresh) ranges from 7,600 to 7,800 VND/kg, OM 5451 rice has a similar price from 7,600 to 7,800 VND/kg. OM 380 rice fluctuates at 7,000 VND/kg, while OM 18 rice (fresh) costs from 8,500 to 8,600 VND/kg.
Other rice varieties such as Nang Hoa 9, Nhat rice, and Dai Thom 8 (fresh) are priced at VND8,400 - 8,600/kg, VND7,800 - 8,000/kg, and VND8,600 - 8,800/kg, respectively.
In many localities, dry fragrant rice has low demand and uneven quality, so warehouses have to choose carefully. The price of Autumn-Winter rice is currently stable but demand is quite slow.
In Dong Thap, rice supply is scarce because most of it has been reserved in advance, causing rice prices to stagnate. Farmers offer rice for sale but few people buy.
In An Giang and Long An, the situation is similar when the demand for buying Autumn-Winter rice is not much, mainly receiving deposited rice.
Over the past week, rice prices have changed slightly. IR 504 raw rice is currently fluctuating between VND10,350 and VND10,500 per kg, while IR 504 finished rice is priced between VND12,450 and VND12,550 per kg.
However, rice trading in localities is slow, most of the rice is of poor quality.
In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), bad rice accounts for the majority, and the quality of rice batches has not improved.
In Sa Dec and Cai Be, the situation is similar with a large amount of bad rice and unstable rice quality.
At retail markets, rice prices remain stable. Nang Nhen rice has the highest price of 28,000 VND/kg. Other types of rice such as fragrant rice, Jasmine rice, Nang Hoa rice, and Thai rice cost from 17,000 to 22,500 VND/kg depending on the type.

The prices of by-products such as fragrant broken rice and dried bran range from 6,000 to 9,400 VND/kg. The price of fragrant broken rice currently ranges from 9,300 to 9,400 VND/kg, while dried bran ranges from 5,950 to 6,100 VND/kg.
Export rice price
In the export market, rice prices have not fluctuated much. The price of 100% broken rice is currently at 410 USD/ton, while the price of 5% standard rice is 522 USD/ton. This price is higher than other countries such as Thailand, India and Pakistan. Vietnamese rice still maintains a high position in the group of major exporting countries.
India’s lifting of the rice export ban at the end of October caused a sharp drop in international rice prices, especially 5% broken rice from Pakistan and Thailand. However, Vietnamese rice prices have rebounded since November 21, reaching $522 per ton.
In Vietnam, rice prices have also increased again due to limited supply. Rice prices at warehouses are now 500 VND/kg higher than last week, reaching over 9,200 VND/kg. Rice purchasing enterprises said that the supply of autumn-winter rice has decreased significantly, from 1,000-1,500 tons per day to 300-500 tons. Vietnam's rice export prices continue to increase, thanks to the quality of fragrant and sticky rice, which is superior to other countries.
The Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) forecasts that this year's rice output will reach about 43 million tons, enough for domestic demand and over 8 million tons of rice for export. Export turnover is expected to exceed 5 billion USD, the highest ever, affirming the position of Vietnamese rice in the international market.
