Today's export rice prices (September 25, 2024)

According to the Vietnam Food Association, Vietnam's export rice prices have adjusted downwards compared to yesterday, with 100% broken rice falling by $1 to $454 per ton.

According to data from the General Department of Customs, by mid-September, Vietnam had exported nearly 6.5 million tons of rice, earning $4.06 billion, an increase of 6% in volume and 21% in value compared to the same period last year.

Japan is experiencing its first rice shortage since 1999 as people stockpile rice amid fears of earthquakes and typhoons. Rice prices in Japan have surged, now more than 30% higher than a year ago, largely due to the 2023 drought and stockpiling by consumers in August 2024.

Japan imports approximately 770,000 tons of rice annually, primarily from the United States, Thailand, China, and Australia, while Vietnamese rice has not yet met their quality and safety standards.

Tan Long Group is one of the few Vietnamese businesses that have successfully exported ST25 rice to Japan, meeting over 600 stringent technical standards.

The opportunities for Vietnamese rice in the Japanese market are significant due to high demand, but careful contracts and preparation, taking 6-9 months to meet the standards, are required.

Vietnam is expanding its rice export markets to new regions such as the Middle East, South America, as well as Japan and South Korea, in addition to traditional markets.
