Rice prices today, December 26, 2025: Paddy prices increased by up to 300 VND/kg.
Today, December 26, 2025, rice prices in the Mekong Delta recorded a slight upward trend of 100-300 VND/kg due to limited supply at the end of the season, while export prices remained stable.
The rice market on December 26th recorded positive developments in the Mekong Delta region. According to surveys, the price of fresh paddy in many localities has adjusted upwards by 100-300 VND/kg due to limited supply at the end of the season, while the price of finished rice and export rice continues to remain stable.
Fresh rice prices edge up in the Mekong Delta.
Updated data from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province shows that the prices of many key rice varieties have recorded significant increases. Specifically, OM 5451 rice (fresh) recorded the highest increase of 300 VND/kg, fluctuating between 5,800 and 6,000 VND/kg. IR 50404 rice (fresh) increased by 200 VND/kg, reaching 5,500 – 5,600 VND/kg.
Other rice varieties such as OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 (fresh) also saw a slight increase of 100 VND/kg, currently fluctuating around 6,500 – 6,700 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the glutinous rice market remains stable, with no new fluctuations compared to yesterday's trading session.
The raw and retail rice markets remain stable.
Despite the upward trend in paddy prices, raw rice prices in the Mekong Delta region only saw minor adjustments for some items. Dai Thom 8 rice increased slightly by 50 VND/kg, reaching 8,800 – 9,050 VND/kg; IR 504 export raw rice also increased by 50 VND/kg, fluctuating between 7,600 – 7,700 VND/kg.
In the retail market, the prices of various types of rice remain unchanged, specifically:
- Nang Nhen Rice:28,000 VND/kg (highest price).
- Common types of rice:12,000 – 14,000 VND/kg.
- Fragrant sheet:7,500 – 7,600 VND/kg.
- Bran:10,000 – 11,000 VND/kg.
Trading activity at major warehouses in An Giang and Dong Thap provinces has been relatively slow. Many businesses are limiting their purchases, resulting in overall little fluctuation in the finished rice market.
Updates on export rice prices and the international context.
According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the export price of Vietnamese rice remains stable. Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains ranges from 435 to 460 USD/ton; Jasmine rice from 453 to 457 USD/ton; and 100% broken rice at 319 to 323 USD/ton.
On the international market, Bangladesh is stepping up its food import plan to bolster national reserves. Accordingly, the country has agreed to import 50,000 tons of rice from India at a price of approximately US$355 per ton. This price is considered significantly lower than supplies from Pakistan. It is projected that in the period 2025-2026, Bangladesh will import at least 900,000 tons of rice to proactively regulate the domestic market.
