Rice prices today, December 28th: Mekong Delta market remains stable at the end of the harvest season.
Rice prices in the Mekong Delta remained stable on December 28th. OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 rice varieties maintained a price of 6,700 VND/kg amidst dwindling supply at the end of the harvest season.
According to observations in the Mekong Delta region on December 28th, rice prices continued to remain stable, with no significant fluctuations compared to previous days. Trading was relatively slow due to the dwindling supply of fresh rice at the end of the harvest season and the impact of year-end holiday sentiment.

Fresh rice prices remain stable.
According to updated data from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the price of fresh rice of all types has not changed significantly. The supply in many localities such as An Giang, Dong Thap, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Ca Mau, and Tay Ninh is no longer abundant, causing traders to purchase cautiously, but prices remain high.

Although trading activity is slow, there is no downward price pressure because it is the end of the season and domestic supply is low.
The raw and retail rice markets remain stable.
Prices of raw rice for export and domestic consumption continue to remain stable within a narrow range. Specifically, raw IR 504 rice fluctuates around 7,600 – 7,700 VND/kg, while Dai Thom 8 rice maintains its price at 8,800 – 9,050 VND/kg. Finished IR 504 rice is currently commonly traded at 9,500 – 9,700 VND/kg.
In the retail market, the prices of consumer rice varieties have not fluctuated much:
- Nang Nhen Rice:28,000 VND/kg (the highest price on the market).
- Fragrant rice (Huong Lai, Jasmine, Nang Hoa):Maintaining high prices to meet year-end demand.
- Common white rice:Prices range from 12,000 to 16,000 VND/kg.
Export rice prices remain at a good level.
According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), despite the international market entering a holiday period which slowed down transactions, the export price of Vietnamese rice remains stable. Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains is currently being offered at around 435-460 USD/ton. Jasmine rice fluctuates around 453-457 USD/ton, while 100% broken rice maintains a price of 319-323 USD/ton.
Experts predict that domestic rice prices are unlikely to fluctuate significantly from now until the end of the New Year's holiday, as businesses have essentially completed key procurement contracts.
