Rice prices today, September 29, 2024: OM 380 rice prices decreased slightly by 200 to 300 VND/kg; farmers offered many rice for sale, but there were few buyers.

Rice prices on the market remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Raw IR 504 summer-autumn rice is priced from 10,450 to 10,600 VND/kg, while finished IR 504 rice is priced from 12,800 to 12,900 VND/kg.
At local markets, the prices of various types of rice remain unchanged. Nang Nhen rice is the most expensive at 28,000 VND/kg. Jasmine rice ranges from 18,000 to 20,000 VND/kg, Nang Hoa rice is 20,000 VND/kg, white rice from 15,000 to 16,000 VND/kg, Thai fragrant rice from 20,000 to 21,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai rice at 18,000 VND/kg, Taiwanese fragrant rice at 21,000 VND/kg, common white rice at 17,000 VND/kg, regular Soc rice from 18,000 to 18,500 VND/kg, Soc Thai rice at 21,000 VND/kg, and Japanese rice at 22,000 VND/kg.

In Kien Giang and Dong Thap, prices have dropped significantly and the number of buyers is low. In Can Tho, the price of OM 18 rice has fallen sharply, and although farmers have plenty of rice to sell, there are not many buyers.
According to the latest information from the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, today's rice prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday:
IR 50404 rice is priced from 7,100 to 7,300 VND/kg.
Dai Thom 8 rice is priced from 8,000 to 8,200 VND/kg.
OM 5451 rice is priced from 7,400 to 7,700 VND/kg.
OM 18 rice is priced at 7,500 to 7,800 VND/kg, a decrease of 200 to 300 VND.
The price of OM 380 rice remains stable at 7,300 VND/kg.
Japanese rice is priced from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.
Dried Nàng Nhen rice fetches the highest price at 20,000 VND/kg.
By-product prices today, September 29, 2024
The current prices of by-products range from 6,000 to 9,700 VND/kg. Specifically, the price of OM 5451 broken rice is from 9,600 to 9,700 VND/kg, while the price of dry rice bran is from 6,000 to 6,050 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, glutinous rice prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday. The price of Long An IR 4625 glutinous rice (dry) remained stable at 9,500 to 9,700 VND/kg. The price of Long An 3-month glutinous rice (dry) also remained unchanged, still at 9,800 to 10,000 VND/kg.
Today's export rice prices
On the export market, Vietnamese rice prices have seen minor changes. According to the Vietnam Food Association, 100% broken rice is priced at US$454/ton, standard 5% broken rice at US$562/ton (down US$2), and 25% broken rice at US$532/ton (down US$2).
The Indian government has reduced the export tax on parboiled rice from 20% to 10% to boost exports and stabilize the market. This decision comes as India has large rice reserves and farmers are about to begin harvesting the new crop.
Parboiled rice, which is soaked in hot water before processing, as well as brown rice, both have their export tax reduced to 10%.
Earlier this month, India also abolished the floor price for basmati rice exports, giving farmers easier access to major markets such as Europe, the Middle East, and the US.
