Today, the rice market in the Mekong Delta has little incoming goods, not much good rice, warehouses are buying slowly and prices have slightly decreased.
The price of IR 504 Summer-Autumn raw rice is currently 11,150 - 11,300 VND/kg, down 250 - 300 VND compared to yesterday. The price of IR 504 finished rice has decreased by 150 VND/kg, down to 13,300 - 13,400 VND/kg.
At retail markets, rice prices are stable, unchanged from before. Nang Nhen rice has the highest price of 28,000 VND/kg. Other types of rice such as Jasmine are priced from 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg, Nang Hoa rice is 20,000 VND/kg, and regular rice is priced around 15,000 - 16,000 VND/kg.
Fragrant rice varieties such as long-grain fragrant Thai rice cost 20,000 - 21,000 VND/kg, Jasmine rice and Taiwanese fragrant rice both cost 20,000 VND/kg. Common white rice costs 17,000 VND/kg, regular Soc rice costs 18,500 VND/kg, Thai Soc rice costs 20,000 VND/kg and Japanese rice costs 22,000 VND/kg.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, today's rice price has slightly decreased compared to yesterday:
IR 50404 rice costs from 7,900 to 8,000 VND/kg.
Dai Thom 8 rice decreased by 200 VND, to 8,400 - 8,600 VND/kg.
OM 5451 rice decreased by 100 VND, to 8,100 - 8,300 VND/kg.
OM 18 rice decreased by 200 VND, to 8,400 - 8,600 VND/kg.
OM 380 rice costs from 7,600 to 7,800 VND/kg.
Japanese rice costs from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.
Nang Nhen rice (dried) is sold at 20,000 VND/kg.
By-product price today 8/30/2024
The sticky rice market remained unchanged from yesterday, with IR 4625 sticky rice prices ranging from VND7,400 to VND7,600 per kg.
An Giang sticky rice prices also remain unchanged, from 7,000 to 7,200 VND/kg.
There was a slight adjustment in by-products: the price of OM 5451 sheet decreased slightly to 9,300 to 9,400 VND/kg, down 100 VND.
The price of dry bran remains stable, unchanged, at a price of 6,900 to 7,050 VND/kg.
Export rice price today August 30, 2024
Vietnam's rice export prices decreased slightly compared to yesterday. Specifically, 100% broken rice was priced at 440 USD/ton, 5% standard rice fell to 578 USD/ton, and 25% broken rice fell to 545 USD/ton.
At the beginning of the year, Vietnamese businesses signed contracts to export rice to the Philippines at a price of $700 per ton. However, as they wait for the new import tax rate, Philippine traders have temporarily stopped receiving goods.
When the price of rice dropped to $600 per ton, Philippine traders requested to renegotiate the price and proposed $620-630 per ton. Vietnamese businesses agreed to this price.
Despite agreeing to the new price, Filipino traders continue to delay taking delivery of their goods while waiting for the new import tariffs. Currently, buying rice at $650 per ton is still a loss for businesses.
The leader of a rice business in Ho Chi Minh City said that with current rice prices, exporting to the Philippines causes the business to lose about 100 USD/ton.
Philippine rice importers are concerned that their Vietnamese counterparts may cancel supply contracts as they are asking to renegotiate contracts at higher prices, following the Philippine government's significant tariff reduction.
