Rice prices on the market are currently stable, unchanged from yesterday. Specifically, the price of IR 504 summer-autumn raw rice ranges from 10,450 to 10,600 VND/kg, while the price of finished IR 504 rice ranges from 12,800 to 12,900 VND/kg.

At local markets, rice prices remain unchanged. Nang Nhen rice is currently the most expensive at 28,000 VND/kg. Other varieties such as Jasmine rice are priced from 18,000 to 20,000 VND/kg, Nang Hoa rice at 20,000 VND/kg, white rice from 15,000 to 16,000 VND/kg, Thai fragrant rice from 20,000 to 21,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai rice at 18,000 VND/kg, Taiwanese fragrant rice at 21,000 VND/kg, common white rice at 17,000 VND/kg, regular Soc rice from 18,000 to 18,500 VND/kg, Soc Thai rice at 21,000 VND/kg, and Japanese rice at 22,000 VND/kg.

Localities are preparing for the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring crop season. Long An province requires planting according to a schedule to cope with weather and pests, aiming to improve Winter-Spring rice yields. It recommends using key rice varieties with good adaptability and high demand such as OM18, OM5451, and Jasmine 85.

Specialty glutinous and fragrant rice varieties such as ST24 and Nang Hoa 9 are becoming more popular. Long An's planting target for the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring crop is 224,000 hectares, with the hope of achieving a yield of over 1.5 million tons.

During the Summer-Autumn 2024 season, Long An province planted 222,000 hectares and harvested 191,000 hectares, achieving a yield of 5.4 tons/ha and a total production of over 1 million tons.

According to the latest information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, rice prices today remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of IR 50404 rice ranges from 7,100 to 7,300 VND/kg.

- Dai Thom 8 rice is priced from 8,000 to 8,200 VND/kg.

- OM 5451 rice is sold at prices ranging from 7,400 to 7,700 VND/kg.

- The price of OM 18 rice ranges from 7,500 to 7,800 VND/kg.

- The price of OM 380 rice remains stable at 7,300 VND/kg.

- Japanese rice is priced from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.

- Dried Nàng Nhen rice has the highest price at 20,000 VND/kg.

By-product prices today, September 30, 2024

The current prices of by-products are fluctuating between 6,000 and 9,700 VND/kg. Specifically, the price of OM 5451 broken rice ranges from 9,600 to 9,700 VND/kg, while the price of dry rice bran is in the range of 6,000 to 6,050 VND/kg.

In other news, glutinous rice prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday. The price of Long An IR 4625 glutinous rice (dry) remained stable at 9,500 to 9,700 VND/kg. Similarly, the price of Long An 3-month glutinous rice (dry) also remained unchanged at 9,800 to 10,000 VND/kg.

Today's export rice prices

Meanwhile, Vietnam's export rice prices also remained unchanged, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), with 100% broken rice priced at $454/ton, standard 5% broken rice at $562/ton, and 25% broken rice at $532/ton.

India resumed exporting non-basmati white rice on September 28th, with a minimum price of $490 per ton. This could force other rice-producing countries such as Pakistan, Thailand, and Vietnam to lower their rice prices to remain competitive.

India has also reduced the export tax on basmati rice to 10%. With its large rice reserves, India is contributing to lower rice prices on the international market.

The price of Vietnamese 5% broken rice has fallen to $560 per ton, down $20 from last week. Thai rice prices have also dropped to $550 per ton, the lowest level in over a year.

Vietnamese rice exporters predict that rice prices will continue to fall due to competition from India. However, some experts believe that rice prices are unlikely to fall below $500 per ton due to limited domestic supply.
