The rice market in the Mekong Delta region remained stable on March 13th. According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the price of fresh paddy rice remained stable, while the raw and finished rice segments showed signs of slowing trading due to cautious buying and selling sentiment at warehouses.
Fresh rice prices remain stable.
Currently, rice prices in the Mekong Delta provinces remain largely unchanged compared to the beginning of the week. High-quality rice varieties for export are still being regularly purchased by traders, especially in key areas such as An Giang and Can Tho.
| type of rice | Purchase price (VND/kg) |
|---|---|
| Fragrance Channel 8 | 6,100 – 6,200 |
| OM 18 | 6,000 – 6,100 |
| OM 4218 | 6,000 – 6,200 |
| OM 5451 | 5,800 – 6,000 |
| IR 50404 | 5,500 |
| OM 34 | 5,200 – 5,400 |
Notably, the activity of placing deposits to purchase Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 rice varieties, which are nearing harvest, is becoming more active. Mills are concentrating on accumulating stock to prepare for export contracts to the Philippines market, helping to keep rice prices in An Giang and Can Tho areas from falling.

The domestic rice market is experiencing sluggish trading.
In contrast to the stability of the fresh paddy market, the rice market is experiencing a subdued atmosphere. In localities such as Dong Thap, Vinh Long, and Tay Ninh, the amount of rice arriving at ports is not large, and warehouses are purchasing only limited quantities.
Specifically, raw OM 5451 rice is currently fluctuating around 8,550 – 8,700 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice is at 9,150 – 9,350 VND/kg. Finished IR 504 rice is recorded at 9,500 – 9,700 VND/kg. As for by-products, fragrant broken rice has seen a slight increase of about 50 VND/kg, reaching 7,650 – 7,800 VND/kg, while bran remains at 10,500 – 11,500 VND/kg.
In the retail segment at local markets, rice prices remained relatively stable. Nang Nhen rice continued to maintain the highest price at 28,000 VND/kg. Other popular rice varieties such as Jasmine rice ranged from 13,000 to 14,000 VND/kg, common white rice was around 16,000 VND/kg, and regular rice was at 12,000 to 13,000 VND/kg.
Export rice prices remain low.
According to a report from the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the export price of Vietnamese rice remains stable at a low level compared to previous years. Specifically:
- 5% broken rice:400 – 415 USD/ton.
- 100% broken rice:316 – 320 USD/ton.
- Jasmine rice:430 – 434 USD/ton.
Overall, the rice market is currently awaiting new signals from international import demand. Although domestic supply remains stable, purchasing power from major export businesses remains a key factor determining price trends in the coming days.
