Rice prices on April 13th: Market remains stable, OM 18 rice reaches 6,100 VND/kg.
Rice prices in the Mekong Delta remained stable at the beginning of the week due to abundant supply from the Winter-Spring crop. Export rice with 5% broken grains held at $440-$445 per ton.
The rice market in the Mekong Delta region remained sluggish during the trading session on April 13th. Reports indicate little price fluctuation, and trading activity was slow in many localities due to high supply from the winter-spring crop.
Fresh rice prices remain stable, with sluggish trading.
Data from the An Giang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment shows that the price of fresh rice today has not changed much compared to the end of last week. Traders say that transactions are currently quite slow due to a sharp increase in supply, while demand from businesses has not seen a sudden surge.

Many processing businesses are currently adopting a cautious approach, prioritizing procurement based on actual demand rather than stockpiling large quantities, as the market awaits new signals from export contracts.
Prices of raw and finished rice remained stable.
For the rice segment, export prices for various types of raw rice continued to remain stable. Specifically, CL 555 rice fluctuated between 8,100 and 8,200 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice maintained a level of 8,650 to 8,750 VND/kg; while Dai Thom 8 rice ranged from 9,200 to 9,400 VND/kg.
In addition, some other varieties also maintained stable prices, such as IR 504 rice at 8,000 – 8,100 VND/kg and OM 18 rice fluctuating between 8,900 – 9,100 VND/kg. Finished IR 504 rice, in particular, was traded at around 9,500 – 9,700 VND/kg.
The retail market remains stable.
At retail markets, rice prices remain stable, reflecting a balance between domestic supply and demand. Nang Nhen rice still maintains the highest price at around 28,000 VND/kg. Popular varieties such as long-grain Thai fragrant rice range from 20,000 to 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine rice from 14,000 to 15,000 VND/kg; and common white rice is at 16,000 VND/kg.
Vietnam's rice exports maintain competitiveness.
On the international market, according to the Vietnam Food Association, the export price of Vietnamese rice remains stable in many key segments. 5% broken rice is currently offered at around 440-445 USD/ton; 100% broken rice ranges from 333-337 USD/ton.
Compared to its main competitors in the region, Vietnamese rice prices remain competitive. In Thailand, 5% broken rice ranges from US$336 to US$340 per ton. Meanwhile, in India, 5% broken rice is also offered at a similar price of US$336 to US$340 per ton.
Economists believe that the global rice market is under pressure from high logistics costs and persistently high energy prices. This is making international importers more cautious about signing new contracts, especially as they closely monitor developments in sea freight rates.
In the short term, domestic rice prices are expected to remain stable with a narrow fluctuation range, as the supply from the Winter-Spring crop remains abundant in the Mekong Delta provinces.
