Rice prices in the Mekong Delta on January 23rd remained stable with slow trading. Prices for OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 rice varieties remained steady, while export rice prices held firm at high levels.
The rice market in the Mekong Delta region on January 23rd remained stable, with little fluctuation compared to previous sessions. According to surveys, the current supply to the market is not abundant, leading to cautious and relatively slow trading sentiment from both traders and businesses in key localities such as An Giang, Tay Ninh, Ca Mau, and Dong Thap.
Trends in the prices of raw and finished rice
In rice warehouses in the Mekong Delta region, the price of raw rice for export continues to remain stable. Specifically, OM 18 raw rice is currently fluctuating between 8,500 and 8,600 VND/kg. For finished rice products, IR 504 is commonly purchased by buyers at 9,500 to 9,700 VND/kg.

Notably, other varieties of raw rice also did not record significant adjustments:
- OM 5451 Rice:8,800 – 8,900 VND/kg.
- Dai Thom 8 Rice:8,650 – 8,800 VND/kg.
- OM 380 Rice:7,600 – 7,770 VND/kg.
- IR 504 rice (raw material):7,650 – 7,750 VND/kg.
Prices of fresh paddy rice at the farm remain stable.
The price of fresh paddy in the Mekong Delta region has generally remained stable, reflecting the harvest situation and demand from mills. Fresh OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 rice varieties continue to maintain prices in the range of 6,300 – 6,500 VND/kg.

Retail market and rice export situation
At retail markets, consumer rice prices remain stable. Nang Nhen rice is still the most expensive, listed around 28,000 VND/kg. Huong Lai rice is commonly priced at 22,000 VND/kg, while Thai long-grain fragrant rice and Japanese rice range from 20,000 to 22,000 VND/kg.
On the international market, according to data from the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the export price of Vietnamese rice remains stable. Currently, fragrant rice with 5% broken grains is offered at around 420-440 USD/ton. Jasmine rice ranges from 446-450 USD/ton, while 100% broken grains remain at 319-323 USD/ton. The market is expected to remain stable in the short term as no new factors have emerged that would significantly impact supply and demand.
