Today's rice prices in the Mekong Delta remain subdued due to limited supply. Meanwhile, the export price of Vietnam's 5% broken rice continues to maintain a significant advantage over competitors from Thailand and India.

The rice market in the Mekong Delta region remained stable on April 28th, but trading was relatively slow. According to surveys, buying and selling activity in many localities was sluggish due to limited rice supply in the fields, while purchasing warehouses maintained a cautious attitude.

Fresh rice prices remain stable within a narrow range.

In An Giang province, fresh rice prices remained low, fluctuating only slightly compared to the previous session. Specifically, OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 rice varieties were priced at 6,000 – 6,100 VND/kg. Other popular varieties such as OM 5451 maintained a price of 5,600 – 5,700 VND/kg; IR 50404 fluctuated around 5,400 – 5,500 VND/kg, while OM 34 was lower at 5,100 – 5,200 VND/kg.

Harvesting conditions in provinces like Can Tho and Tay Ninh show that the unharvested area is still small, encouraging farmers to maintain high prices. However, in other localities such as Ca Mau, Vinh Long, and Dong Thap, the market is quite quiet, with only a trickle of goods arriving at warehouses.

Compared to its competitors, Vietnamese rice prices are currently significantly higher. This difference reflects the quality and stable demand for Vietnamese fragrant and high-quality rice varieties in the global market.
