The price of Pi Network has been continuously falling, leaving the community deeply disappointed.
The Pi Network project officially launched on the afternoon of February 20th. According to statistics from BeinCrypto, with a circulating supply of 6.3 billion tokens and an initial price of approximately $2 per token, the total value of the Pi Network airdrop currently stands at $12.6 billion. This figure is nearly double that of the Uniswap airdrop in 2020, which only reached $6.43 billion. In the cryptocurrency market, an airdrop refers to the issuance of free coins or tokens to users before a project officially launches.

Immediately after listing, the PI token was priced at 2 USDT (1 USDT is equivalent to 1 USD). On some exchanges, the price of PI even surged to over 3.4 USDT within the first few minutes.
However, for almost the next hour, the price of PI fluctuated wildly, ranging from 0.7 to 1.8 USDT. The price difference of up to 40% between exchanges at the same time led many to suspect price manipulation by the exchanges.
After a period of significant volatility, the price of Pi Network gradually stabilized but then continued to fall sharply. As of early morning on February 21st, the cryptocurrency was trading at around 0.7 USDT.
A user named Thanh Tam shared in a Pi Network community group with over 200,000 members: "I spent over 4 years mining PI, but I didn't expect the price to drop so quickly."
Thus, in less than a day, the value of this token has dropped by more than half compared to its initial listing price.
Before Pi Network officially listed, many people bought PI tokens at prices ranging from 50,000 to 65,000 VND per token. However, with the current price of around 0.7 USDT (equivalent to 17,900 VND), these people are now suffering significant losses.
The sharp drop in Pi Network's price has surprised and disappointed many investors, especially those who had expected a price increase after the project officially launched.
Expert opinions on the Pi Network project
Haotian, an expert from CryptoInsight, noted that Pi Network is particularly popular in markets where people lack financial literacy. Slogans like 'one Pi equals one Bitcoin' have contributed to many people misunderstanding the true value of this cryptocurrency. He also suggested that the market's strong reaction to Pi Network's listing further highlights the project's potential problems.
Before Pi Network officially launched, many users expected the cryptocurrency's price to be very high. They even called for a 'consensus price' of $500 to $1,000 per Pi and demanded that the price not be lowered. Some communities even proposed the concept of GCV (Global Consensus Value), suggesting a price of up to $314,159 per Pi.
However, according to OneSafe, these figures are unrealistic. PCT, the entity behind Pi Network, announced that the maximum total supply of Pi is 100 billion tokens, of which approximately 6 billion Pi will be released to the market immediately after the network opens.
Nam Nguyen, a person with 4 years of experience in the cryptocurrency market, commented: "If Pi reaches the price that the community expects, its market capitalization will be at an unimaginable level, and there is no factual basis or market data to prove that."
Crypto Times also offered a similar assessment: "There has been too much hype surrounding Pi Coin and Pi Network since the project launched. It has survived primarily by appealing to investors' emotions, much like the case of Kombat Hamster. However, over time, people will see the reality and assess whether Pi is truly a promising long-term project."
