On January 19th, the durian market recorded positive growth at warehouses in the Western region, with Thai and Ri6 durians both seeing upward adjustments in purchase prices.

The durian market on January 19th showed clear signs of recovery as purchase prices at warehouses in the Mekong Delta region uniformly increased. According to surveys in key areas such as Tien Giang, Cai Lay, and Dong Thap, consumption demand is improving, pushing up the prices of Thai and Ri6 durians compared to previous trading sessions.

Thai durian (Grade A) prices have risen to 120,000 VND/kg.

In the Western region, Thai durian prices have seen the most impressive recovery. Specifically, Grade A Thai durian at large warehouses currently ranges from 112,000 to 120,000 VND/kg, an increase of about 2,000 VND/kg depending on quality and packaging. Other segments also maintain stable prices, with Grade B Thai durian at 90,000 - 95,000 VND/kg and Grade C around 50,000 VND/kg.

For the substandard durian segment, Grade A Thai durian is priced at 85,000 – 90,000 VND/kg, while Grade B ranges from 70,000 - 75,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, rejected Thai durian is currently being purchased by traders at around 48,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.

Ri6 durian and other specialty varieties maintain their upward trend.

Similar to Thai durian, the price of Ri6 durian today also recorded an increase of about 3,000 VND/kg for grade A. At wholesale markets, grade A Ri6 is currently being purchased at 73,000 - 77,000 VND/kg, grade B ranges from 58,000 - 60,000 VND/kg, and grade C is at 32,000 - 40,000 VND/kg.

Besides the two main varieties, the prices of other specialty durian varieties have not fluctuated significantly:

  • Musang King durian:Grade A ranges from 110,000 to 115,000 VND/kg; Grade B is around 80,000 VND/kg.
  • Chuong Bo durian:Grade A is currently priced at 67,000 – 71,000 VND/kg; Grade B is priced at 52,000 - 57,000 VND/kg.
  • Six Huu's durian:Prices remained stable around 75,000 VND/kg.

Overall, the durian market on January 19th is showing an upward trend. However, market experts note that actual prices still vary significantly between purchasing warehouses, closely depending on fruit quality, the percentage meeting standards, and the time of day when transactions take place.
