Today's durian prices are causing concern among many farmers as heavy rains continue in Lam Dong and other key durian-growing regions. The risk of durians becoming unripe and traders abandoning their deposits is increasing.

Today's durian prices in the Southwest region of Vietnam for premium RI6 durian range from 55,000 to 60,000 VND/kg, a decrease of about 5,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day's high prices. The price for unsold RI6 durian remains at 25,000 - 28,000 VND/kg.
High-quality Thai durian continues to be priced at 85,000 - 90,000 VND/kg. The common bulk purchase price ranges from 45,000 - 50,000 VND/kg. The price difference between premium and bulk durian currently fluctuates around 35,000 - 40,000 VND/kg.
The Southeast and Central Highlands regions continue to trade sideways.

Heavy rains are causing farmers to worry about the quality of their fruit.
Many durian growers in Lam Dong are worried that prolonged heavy rain will reduce the quality of the fruit. If rain occurs close to harvest time, the durian flesh may become tough and ripen unevenly.
Some traders have started surveying the orchards to place deposits for purchasing. However, the actual price is currently only around 40,000 - 45,000 VND/kg for RI6 grade A, while lower-quality rice only ranges from 20,000 - 25,000 VND/kg.
Today's durian prices are putting significant pressure on farmers' profits. The investment cost for one tree from harvest to the next season is approximately 2-2.2 million VND/tree, but the actual profit is no longer as high as in previous years.
The durian capital faces pressure to achieve profitability.
Da Huoai, Da Teh, and Cat Tien currently have over 10,000 hectares of durian orchards. This region once saw thousands of households earn between 500 million and over 1 billion VND per year thanks to high durian prices.
Today's drop in durian prices has led many farmers to become more cautious about their investment and expansion plans.
