On the morning of January 1st, 2026, the durian market in the Mekong Delta region recorded stable trading activity on the first day of the new year. Trends in Thai durian prices in key producing regions.
Surveys in key durian-growing regions such as Tien Giang, Cai Lay, and Dong Thap show that the price of Thai durian continues to maintain a stable upward trend. Currently, purchasing warehouses are applying prices ranging from 90,000 to 100,000 VND/kg for Grade A Thai durian, depending on the quality and selection criteria of each batch.
For other segments, Grade B Thai durian ranges from 70,000 to 80,000 VND/kg. Grade C durian is commonly priced at 47,000 to 50,000 VND/kg. Notably, batches of defective Thai durian are still well-received by the market, with purchase prices around 75,000 to 80,000 VND/kg.

Ri6 durian and other premium varieties
In contrast to the rising prices of Thai durian, Ri6 durian continues to face pressure due to large supply. In the Mekong Delta region, Grade A Ri6 durian is currently priced between 54,000 and 60,000 VND/kg. Grade B durian is commonly priced between 39,000 and 45,000 VND/kg, while Grade C durian is mainly purchased through direct negotiation.
Besides the two main varieties, other premium durian varieties are also showing positive price trends:
- Musang King durian:Grade A pork has increased by 8,000 – 10,000 VND/kg, currently ranging from 115,000 – 118,000 VND/kg. Grade B pork is priced at 85,000 – 88,000 VND/kg.
- Chuong Bo durian:Grade A pork remains stable at 63,000 – 65,000 VND/kg. Lower quality pork is commonly priced around 35,000 VND/kg.
Market differentiation and export trends
Looking back at market developments from 2025 to the present, the differentiation between durian varieties has become increasingly clear. Thai durian is asserting its dominance thanks to its thick flesh, uniform appearance, and ability to meet the stringent standards of both export and high-end domestic markets.
Conversely, despite its high production volume, Ri6 durian remains heavily dependent on the domestic market. Experts predict that in the short term, Ri6 prices are unlikely to experience a significant surge unless there are new developments from official export orders.
