Besides price fluctuations, food safety is being strictly enforced by authorities. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, in coordination with other professional units, recently seized nearly 7 tons of meat and animal products that did not meet hygiene standards and were being prepared for distribution to the market.

Specifically, authorities conducted a surprise inspection of an unlicensed slaughterhouse in Ward 39, Thoi An Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, and discovered approximately 500 kg of pork without quarantine certificates. In addition, during inspections of transport vehicles on National Highway 1 and Nguyen Van Linh Street, the inter-agency team also discovered and destroyed hundreds of kilograms of pork and chicken offal of unknown origin, brought into the city for consumption from other provinces.

In the Tru Van Tho commune and Bang Lang hamlet area, authorities continued to discover four shipments containing over 1,860 poultry (total weight approximately 5,500 kg) without quarantine certificates. All the infringing goods were seized and processed according to the law to ensure consumer safety.
