Specifically, the price of pepper in Dak Lak is being purchased at 149,500 VND/kg, an increase of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday. The price of pepper in Chu Se (Gia Lai) is being purchased at 147,500 VND/kg, a decrease of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday. The price of pepper in Dak Nong today is recorded at 149,500 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.

In the Southeast region, the price of pepper in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is currently at 148,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday; in Binh Phuoc, the price of pepper today is also at 148,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.

Dak Lak province is implementing a program called "Guidance on restoring production after storms and floods" in heavily damaged areas, taking place from December 3rd to 5th. The program focuses on supporting farmers in restoring pepper, coffee, durian, and other crops damaged by the floods.

In the communes of Son Thanh, Duc Binh, Ea Ba, Nam Ka, and Krong No, experts and technical staff directly visited each orchard to guide the process of caring for the trees, dealing with flooding, and restoring fallen trees. They also coordinated with businesses supplying materials to help people quickly overcome initial losses.

The recent storms and floods caused significant damage to Dak Lak province, affecting over 63,000 hectares of annual crops and 19,000 hectares of perennial crops. Many key industrial crops such as pepper, coffee, and durian suffered serious damage, with total estimated losses of approximately 1,500 billion VND.

Given the scale of the damage, local authorities are mobilizing all available resources, from technical expertise and seeds to supplies, to help farmers stabilize production as soon as possible. However, the recovery process is expected to face many obstacles and will require more time for farming areas to return to normal.

Today's world pepper prices

According to the International Pepper Association (IPC), at the close of the most recent trading session, the IPC listed Indonesian Lampung black pepper at US$6,985/ton (down 0.06%) and Muntok white pepper at US$9,631/ton (down 0.07%).

Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper is priced at US$6,150/ton (down 1.22%). Malaysian ASTA black pepper is priced at US$9,000/ton; Malaysian ASTA white pepper is priced at US$12,000/ton.

Today, Vietnamese black pepper is trading at US$6,500/ton for the 500 g/l variety; US$6,700/ton for the 550 g/l variety; and white pepper at US$9,250/ton.

According to the International Pepper Association (IPC), global pepper production in 2025 is projected to reach approximately 520,000 tons, lower than in 2024. The main reasons for this are unusual weather patterns in major pepper-growing regions such as Vietnam, Indonesia, India, and Brazil. Uneven rainfall, prolonged heatwaves, and pest and disease pressure have reduced yields, while some farmers have reduced their planted area or switched to other, more stable crops, preventing a significant improvement in global supply in 2025.

Nevertheless, IPC offered a more positive outlook for 2026, forecasting that production could increase to around 533,000 tons if weather conditions are favorable and replanting programs are implemented correctly. The expansion of sustainable farming techniques, improved irrigation systems, and enhanced pest control also contribute to the potential for production recovery. However, this increase is still considered modest and unlikely to create a surplus in the market.

Experts believe the global pepper market will continue to experience cautious fluctuations in 2025–2026. Reduced production in 2025 could provide impetus for price increases, while the prospect of recovery in 2026 will depend significantly on climatic conditions.

With increasingly unpredictable weather patterns amidst global climate change, the outlook for pepper production remains fraught with risks. The market is projected to remain in a fragile equilibrium and will require more time to stabilize.
