Factors affecting current pepper prices
Today's pepper prices are influenced by several supply and demand factors. On the supply side, Vietnam is at the peak of its harvest season, and Cambodia has also begun harvesting its pepper crop. New crop supplies are continuously entering the market, putting pressure on prices to remain stable rather than continue rising.
On the demand side, the continued participation of domestic exporters has supported price levels. Farmers remain cautious, not rushing to sell despite being in the peak harvest season. Rising energy costs due to fluctuating oil prices caused by the Middle East conflict are also driving up production and transportation costs.
Vietnam's pepper exports reached a record high in the first quarter of 2026.
According to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), by the end of the first quarter of 2026, Vietnam had exported 66,350 tons of pepper with a total value of US$430 million. Compared to the same period in 2025, export volume increased by 39.2% and value increased by 31.7%. This is the highest first-quarter export value ever recorded for Vietnam's pepper industry.
The US continued to be the largest market with 16,859 tons, a 63.9% increase year-on-year and accounting for 25.4% of the market share. China surged strongly with 8,563 tons, a 321.0% increase, becoming the second largest market. This was followed by the UAE with 3,182 tons (a 15.4% increase), India with 2,456 tons (a 27.1% decrease), and the Philippines with 2,383 tons (a 46.9% increase).
Regionally, Asia accounts for 46% of Vietnam's total pepper exports, continuing to be the main driver of growth. The Americas account for 28% and Europe for 20% of total exports.
Analyzing pepper price trends

The price of 138,000–139,000 VND/kg, although lower than the peak of 150,000 VND/kg in the previous quarter, remains an attractive range for pepper growers. Globally, pepper prices fluctuated slightly with a sideways trend, awaiting clearer signals from the harvesting progress in major producing countries.
In summary, today's pepper price in Vietnam (April 10, 2026) remains stable at 138,000–139,000 VND/kg. World black pepper prices fluctuate between 6,100–9,300 USD/ton depending on the market. Pepper exports in the first quarter of 2026 reached a record 430 million USD, a 31.7% increase compared to the same period last year. The market is currently in a consolidation phase, awaiting the completion of the harvest in Vietnam at the end of April to determine the next trend.
