Pepper prices today, April 11, 2025: Slightly increasing again.
Today, April 11th, the domestic price of pepper is between 148,000 and 150,000 VND/kg. Domestic pepper prices have slightly increased by 1,000 to 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Regardless of whether the US imposes tariffs or not, pepper prices are expected to rise again in the medium and long term.
Today's pepper prices in the domestic market (April 11, 2025)
Today, pepper prices in some key growing regions have slightly increased compared to yesterday. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is between 148,000 VND/kg and 150,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak increased slightly by 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 150,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai increased by 1000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 148,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Dak Nong increased by 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 150,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 149,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai also increased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 149,000 VND/kg.
Additionally, today's pepper price in Binh Phuoc increased by 1000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 149,000 VND/kg.
The US decision to temporarily suspend retaliatory tariffs for 90 days is seen as a positive signal for Vietnam's pepper industry. A member of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) said that after pepper prices dropped by about 10,000 VND/kg in just one week, this information will help prices recover in the near future.
According to this source, export contracts to the US are being resumed. During the tariff deferral period, the parties will temporarily finalize prices, although Vietnamese pepper will still be subject to an additional 10% tariff. However, this tariff applies to all sources of supply, so it does not affect the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods in the US market.
Previously, VPSA also reassured farmers and businesses that they should not be overly pessimistic. The association recommended that pepper growers maintain stable production, avoid panic selling, and focus on sustainable farming standards to increase product value. Currently, prices may fall due to delivery restrictions, but within one to two months, prices could rise again as supply from farmers becomes more abundant.
VPSA believes that supply and demand will remain the most important factors from now until the end of the year. Regardless of whether the US imposes tariffs or not, the global market is still experiencing a supply shortage, which will support a rebound in pepper prices in the medium and long term.
A significant advantage is that the US does not produce pepper due to unsuitable climatic conditions, making it entirely dependent on imports. Vietnam currently holds over 77% of the pepper market share in the US. Furthermore, pepper is an essential commodity in the food processing industry, from restaurants and fast-food chains to canning and meat processing.
Furthermore, the global pepper supply is facing difficulties due to declining production in countries like Indonesia and India caused by climate change, diseases, and rising input costs. Meanwhile, consumption demand is trending upwards worldwide. With its advantage as the number one pepper producer and exporter, Vietnam possesses a modern processing system and large raw material areas, helping it maintain its leading role in the global supply chain.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on April 8th (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,078/ton. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices decreased slightly from yesterday to US$9,710/ton.
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at US$9,850/ton. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also remained unchanged compared to yesterday, at US$12,300/ton.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) is 6,600 USD/ton; and the price of 550 gr/l is 6,800 USD/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday, at $9,600 per ton.
