Pepper prices today, April 13, 2025: Continuing the upward trend.
Today, April 13th, domestic pepper prices are at 154,000 - 157,000 VND/kg. Domestic pepper prices continue to rise by 1,000 to 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Pepper supply is becoming increasingly limited due to declining production in many major producing countries.
Today's pepper prices in the domestic market (April 13, 2025)
Today's pepper prices in some key growing regions continued their upward trend from yesterday. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is between 154,000 VND/kg and 157,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak continued to increase by 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 157,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai increased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 154,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Dak Nong increased by 1,500 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 156,500 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 155,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai also saw an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 155,000 VND/kg.
Additionally, today's pepper price in Binh Phuoc increased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 154,000 VND/kg.
The supply of pepper is becoming increasingly limited due to declining production in many major producing countries. Given this situation, many experts believe that the US's retaliatory tariffs are unlikely to curb the rising price of pepper.
In Dak Lak province, which boasts one of the largest pepper growing areas and production volumes in the country, pepper and coffee reserves are dwindling. Data from the Lao Dong newspaper shows that compared to the same period in 2024, the amount of unroasted coffee beans has decreased by more than 24,000 tons, while pepper reserves have fallen by nearly 1,000 tons. This shortage of goods has significantly impacted the province's export revenue in the first three months of 2025.
Mr. Phan Minh Thong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phuc Sinh Group – a leading pepper exporter to the US – shared that American customers reacted very quickly after receiving information about the delay in imposing tariffs. While many partners expressed concerns on April 9th, overnight, by the morning of April 10th, a flood of orders had poured in, forcing the Phuc Sinh team to work three shifts continuously to meet the demand.
Mr. Thong stated that the US does not produce pepper and is therefore entirely dependent on imports, with Vietnam accounting for a large proportion. In this context, businesses like Phuc Sinh can focus all their efforts on fulfilling orders and maintaining a stable supply chain.
From a policy perspective, Mr. Thong emphasized the need for clearer support for domestic businesses, especially manufacturing businesses. He cited the example of export businesses that used to borrow USD at interest rates just over 1%, while domestic manufacturing businesses had to borrow Vietnamese Dong at interest rates as high as 9-10%. According to him, this disparity does not create a fair environment for businesses to develop equally.
Furthermore, Mr. Thong suggested that if Vietnam had a specialized commodity exchange, it would enable businesses to be more proactive in their business and distribution strategies. The exchange could help them minimize tariff risks and regulate the flow of goods more effectively in the international market, reducing their heavy reliance on a single market like the US.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on April 12th (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,147/ton. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,805/ton.
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at US$9,850/ton. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also remained unchanged compared to yesterday, at US$12,300/ton.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) is 6,600 USD/ton; and the price of 550 gr/l is 6,800 USD/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday, at $9,600 per ton.
