Pepper prices today, March 14, 2025: Continue to rise.
Today, March 14th, domestic pepper prices are at 159,000 - 161,000 VND/kg. Pepper prices continue to rise by 500 to 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Indonesian export pepper prices have also increased again.
Domestic pepper prices today
The highest pepper purchase price recorded in key pepper-growing regions (Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc) was 161,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, in Dak Nong province, the price of pepper is 161,000 VND/kg. This remains unchanged from yesterday.
In Gia Lai, the price of pepper is 159,000 VND/kg, an increase of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
In Dak Lak, the price of pepper is 161,000 VND/kg, an increase of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
In Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai provinces, the price of pepper today is 160,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the price of pepper today is 160,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Thus, the lowest price for pepper in the domestic market today is 159,000 VND/kg.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the 2025 pepper harvest is underway and will peak in March and April. However, global production is projected to continue to decline due to shrinking cultivated areas in Vietnam and unfavorable weather conditions in India.
In Vietnam, pepper-growing regions are beginning their harvest season. In Dak Nong, the country's largest pepper producer, about 40% of the area has already been harvested. Meanwhile, in Dak Lak – the second largest producer – only 5-10% of the area has been harvested.
Notably, this year, because many farmers have already profited greatly from durian and coffee, they are not in a hurry to sell pepper to the market, leading to hoarding. This has caused a shortage of supply even during the peak harvest season.
Today's world pepper prices
On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on March 14th (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices rose slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$7,265/ton (up 0.15%). Similarly, Muntok white pepper prices fell slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$10,252/ton (up 0.15%).
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,900 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,800/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also stayed the same as yesterday at US$12,300/tonne.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained stable compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$7,000/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$7,200/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday at $10,000 per ton.
According to data from Vietnam Customs, in February 2025, pepper exports reached 14,345 tons, bringing in $97.2 million. Compared to the previous month, export volume increased by 10.7%, while value increased by 11%. Compared to the same period last year, export volume increased by 7.2%, but value increased sharply by 79.1% thanks to higher pepper prices.
In the first two months of the year, Vietnam exported 27,274 tons of pepper, earning $184.4 million. Although the volume decreased by 11.6%, the value increased by 48.5% thanks to significantly improved export prices.
The average export price of pepper in February 2025 reached US$6,774 per ton, an increase of 0.3% compared to January and 67.1% higher than in February 2024. The average export price for the first two months of the year was US$6,763 per ton, a 68% increase compared to the same period last year.
