Today's pepper prices in the domestic market (May 15, 2025)

Today's pepper prices in some key growing regions remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Therefore, the average domestic pepper price is between 151,000 VND/kg and 152,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Dak Nong remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 152,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai also remains unchanged from yesterday at 152,000 VND/kg.

Additionally, today's pepper price in Binh Phuoc remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,500 VND/kg.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on May 14th (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices fell sharply compared to yesterday, reaching US$7,238/ton (down 1.16%). Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper prices rose slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$9,963/ton (up 0.45%).

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800 per ton.

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,200/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country remained stable at US$11,900/tonne.

Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) is 6,700 USD/ton; and the price of 550 gr/l is 6,800 USD/ton.

Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700 per ton.

Domestic pepper prices today are generally stable, with no major fluctuations recorded. Consumption demand remains steady, while post-harvest supply is somewhat limited. This is expected to support a slight increase in pepper prices in the near future. However, experts believe the market currently lacks clear momentum to create a sharp price surge.

On the world market, pepper prices fluctuated quite erratically from one trading session to the next. Investor caution increased due to several unfavorable factors such as harsh weather and weak demand in some areas. Some markets maintained stable prices, but others recorded a clear downward trend.

Given these complex developments, many domestic traders and investors are choosing to wait and see. The restriction on purchasing and stockpiling is aimed at monitoring signals from the international market before making appropriate decisions.

Nevertheless, according to experts, global demand for pepper remains stable, a positive factor helping to keep domestic prices from fluctuating too sharply. However, given that exports have not yet truly broken through, pepper prices are likely to continue to remain flat or only fluctuate slightly within a narrow range.

Speaking to the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh, former Standing Vice Chairman of the Chu Se Pepper Association, said that the Chinese market is still buying, but the quantity is not large. They are only importing enough to meet their immediate needs, due to the impact of the domestic economic situation, import and export procedures, and the policy of controlling prices by purchasing cautiously.

However, according to Mr. Binh, the price of pepper in China is currently about 20,000 to 30,000 VND/kg higher than in Vietnam. This suggests that in the near future, China may be forced to increase imports to meet domestic demand.

Mr. Binh also added that when some markets show signs of increased buying, domestic and export pepper prices will be pushed up.
