Pepper prices today, May 16, 2025: Mixed increases and decreases.
Today, May 16th, domestic pepper prices are at 151,000 - 152,000 VND/kg. Prices fluctuated, increasing by 500 to 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Experts predict a slight increase in pepper prices from mid-May to early June 2025.
Today's pepper prices in the domestic market (May 16, 2025)
Today's pepper prices in some key growing regions showed mixed trends compared to yesterday. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is between 151,000 VND/kg and 152,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak increased by 1000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 152,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Dak Nong increased by 1000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 152,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 151,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai also saw a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, now at 151,000 VND/kg.
Additionally, today's pepper price in Binh Phuoc decreased by 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 151,000 VND/kg.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on May 15th (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices rose slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$7,252/ton (up 0.19%). Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also increased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$9,983/ton (up 0.2%).
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,200/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country remained stable at US$11,900/tonne.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) is 6,700 USD/ton; and the price of 550 gr/l is 6,800 USD/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700 per ton.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), based on supply and demand factors, many industry experts predict that pepper prices may increase slightly from mid-May to early June 2025.
This is due to businesses finalizing delivery contracts for the second quarter. In addition, some markets such as Europe and the Middle East are increasing imports to serve holiday seasons and tourist periods.
World pepper prices also have the potential to recover if supply from Brazil is hampered by weather conditions. However, the expected increase is not significant, only around 500 to 1000 VND/kg, and will depend heavily on exchange rates and logistics costs.
On the international market, from the beginning of May 2025 until now, pepper prices have fluctuated across countries. Prices in Indonesia have increased, while prices in Vietnam, Brazil, and Malaysia have decreased compared to the beginning of April. Brazil, however, currently maintains a stable price.
According to data from the General Department of Customs, in April 2025, Vietnam exported 26,430 tons of pepper worth US$184.14 million, an increase of over 31% in both volume and value compared to the previous month. Compared to the same period in 2024, production increased by 0.7% but value increased sharply by 58.3%.
In the first four months of the year, Vietnam exported 73,650 tons of pepper, earning $508.36 million. Although production decreased by 11.3% compared to the same period last year, the value increased by 44.4%, reflecting a significantly higher export price trend.
In April, the average export price of pepper reached US$6,968 per ton, a slight decrease of 0.5% compared to March but a significant increase of 57.1% compared to April of the previous year. The average export price for the first four months of the year reached US$6,903 per ton, a sharp increase of 62.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
The US continues to be Vietnam's largest pepper export market with 17,800 tons in the first four months, but this represents a 22% decrease compared to the same period last year. Several other markets also recorded declines, such as the UAE (down 16.5%), the Netherlands (down 46%), and the Philippines (down 25%).
Conversely, pepper exports to Germany and the UK increased sharply. Germany saw a 21% increase, while the UK experienced a 22.7% increase compared to the same period in 2024, showing positive signs in some European markets.
