Domestic pepper prices today, October 17, 2025, range from 144,500 to 147,000 VND/kg. There was a slight increase in Binh Phuoc, but prices are forecast to remain high due to limited supply.
Domestic pepper prices remain stable.
Today, October 17, 2025, pepper prices in some key growing regions remained unchanged compared to yesterday, bringing the average domestic pepper price to between 144,500 and 147,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak province remains unchanged at 147,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai province remains unchanged at 144,500 VND/kg.
Today's pepper prices in Lam Dong province remain unchanged at 147,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper prices in Ho Chi Minh City remain unchanged at 146,000 VND/kg.
Today, pepper prices in Dong Nai province increased slightly by 1000 VND/kg, currently standing at 146,000 VND/kg.

Currently, in addition to supply and demand factors, pepper prices are being negatively impacted by the financial market. The US dollar continues to rise, while speculative capital is pouring into gold as prices continuously set new records, making agricultural products, including pepper, less attractive.
In Vietnam, the new coffee harvest has begun, diverting capital towards this commodity due to high early-season coffee prices. Many dealers have had to sell off their pepper inventories to raise capital for their coffee business, leading to a short-term decrease in pepper trading volume.
On the export market, Vietnam's major pepper markets remain stable, but expectations from China have not been met. Nevertheless, in the long term, pepper prices are still projected to rise due to declining global supply and recovering world demand, helping Vietnam maintain its position as the world's largest pepper exporter.
According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC), domestic pepper prices are likely to fluctuate between 145,000 and 155,000 VND/kg. If supply remains tight, prices could exceed 155,000 VND/kg; conversely, if farmers sell aggressively at the start of the new harvest season, prices may decrease slightly but are unlikely to fall significantly.
World pepper prices and influencing factors
On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updates the latest pepper prices as of October 17, 2025 as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices fell slightly by 0.01% to $7,233 per ton. Similarly, Muntok white pepper prices also decreased slightly by 0.02% to $10,091 per ton.
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged at $6,100 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remain unchanged at US$9,500 per ton. Similarly, ASTA white pepper prices also remain unchanged at US$12,500 per ton.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) remains unchanged at US$6,400/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) remains unchanged at US$6,600/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged at $9,050 per ton.
After the first nine months of 2025, Vietnam's pepper industry achieved export turnover of nearly 1.3 billion USD, becoming one of the country's billion-dollar agricultural products. However, the industry is facing difficulties regarding plant varieties as diseases, climate change, and research on new varieties have not kept pace with demand, making it challenging to maintain productivity and quality.
On the world market, pepper prices are projected to remain high due to limited supply and recovering demand. This presents a great opportunity for Vietnam, but the shortage of high-quality seeds remains a barrier preventing the industry from developing sustainably.
According to the Vietnam Customs Department, in September 2025, pepper exports reached 20,405 tons, valued at US$135.99 million, a slight decrease compared to the previous month but an increase of over 20% compared to the same period in 2024. In total for the first nine months, exports reached 186,503 tons, a decrease of 7.1%, but thanks to a sharp price increase, the value still increased by nearly 28% compared to the previous year.
The average export price in September 2025 reached US$6,665 per ton, an increase compared to August and the same period last year. For the first nine months of the year, the average price reached US$6,787 per ton, a 37.6% increase, indicating strong demand and limited supply continue to help Vietnam maintain its position as the world's largest pepper exporter.
