Pepper prices in key growing regions of the Central Highlands increased slightly by 500 VND, reaching approximately 146,500 VND/kg. The main driving force came from the news that the US exempted pepper and other spices, a product group that the US does not produce domestically, creating new expectations for the market.
The US is currently the largest market for Vietnamese pepper, but due to the impact of reciprocal tariffs, exports to the US in the past 10 months have decreased by 28.5%, to only 45,800 tons. The US decision to exempt the tariffs is considered a positive sign and could help exports recover in the near future.
Despite brighter prospects, the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association still warns businesses to work closely with US importers, especially on traceability and compliance with rules of origin. Previously, goods imported into the US could be subject to tariffs of up to 40%, so meeting all standards is even more crucial.
On the import side, Vietnam recorded a strong increase. By the end of October 2025, the amount of imported pepper reached 37,783 tons, a 32% increase compared to the same period. Brazil was the largest supplier with 18,481 tons, accounting for nearly 49%, followed by Cambodia and Indonesia.
