Pepper prices increased in the middle of the week but then fell. Domestic pepper prices ended the week with fluctuations in different localities compared to the previous week.

Specifically, pepper prices in Dak Nong and Dak Lak provinces last week decreased by 500 and 1,000 VND/kg respectively. On the contrary, pepper prices in Gia Lai and Binh Phuoc provinces increased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to last week. Meanwhile, pepper prices in Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Dong Nai remained unchanged.

Domestic pepper prices are in a period of slight fluctuations as the harvest season enters its peak. However, the market currently has many factors supporting prices at a relatively stable level. Although it is the main harvest season, the amount of pepper sold is not too much because farmers still have the mentality of holding on to their goods thanks to good income from the previous coffee crop. At the same time, demand from traders and speculators is also contributing to price stability.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at USD 9,800/ton.

According to data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in just the first 14 days of April 2025, Vietnam exported 10,413 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 72 million USD. Among the exporting enterprises, the three leading units were Olam with 1,467 tons, Phuc Sinh with 1,177 tons and Nedspice with 750 tons.

In terms of consumption markets, the United States remains the largest destination for Vietnamese pepper, with an export volume of 2,285 tons, accounting for nearly 22% of total exports. This is followed by India with 1,227 tons and Germany with 827 tons.

However, with the change in US tax policy, many businesses are temporarily holding back production, waiting for the results of negotiations to decide on the next direction. If the negotiations do not bring positive results, the Vietnamese pepper industry may lose market share in the US to competitors such as Indonesia or Brazil. Therefore, many businesses are considering expanding the market to other regions.
