According to the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, domestic inventories are gradually decreasing. At the same time, demand from major export markets is likely to increase. These factors will help keep pepper prices high in the near future.
Short-term pepper prices are forecast to fluctuate. Prices depend largely on weather conditions in growing areas and import demand from major markets. However, the market is still considered quite favorable for farmers and businesses. The reason is that international buyers' interest in purchasing remains stable, while supply from some producing countries is limited.
It is worth noting that Vietnamese businesses are expected to reduce imports of raw pepper for processing and re-export to the US market. The reduction in pepper imports also contributes to the lack of abundant domestic supply, thereby supporting pepper prices to remain high.
