Domestic pepper prices today

The highest pepper purchase price recorded in key pepper-growing regions (Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc) was 160,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, in Dak Nong province, the price of pepper is 160,000 VND/kg. This remains unchanged from yesterday.

In Gia Lai, the price of pepper is 159,000 VND/kg, a slight decrease of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

In Dak Lak, the price of pepper is 160,000 VND/kg. This remains unchanged from yesterday.

In Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai provinces, the price of pepper today is 159,000 VND/kg, a slight decrease of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the price of pepper today is 159,500 VND/kg, a slight decrease of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Thus, the lowest price for pepper in the domestic market today is 159,000 VND/kg.

The Vietnamese pepper and spice industry continues to assert its important role in the international market with positive export achievements. To maintain sustainable development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has developed a plan for the development of key industrial crops, including pepper, with a vision to 2030.

According to the plan, the total pepper cultivation area nationwide will be adjusted down to approximately 80,000 - 100,000 hectares. The target by 2030 is to achieve a yield of 24 - 25 quintals/hectare, with a production of approximately 200,000 - 300,000 tons. About 40% of the pepper cultivation area will meet GAP standards or equivalent, and about 40 - 50% will be granted cultivation area codes for traceability purposes.

In addition, the industry will also focus on developing pepper growing areas in an organic direction and according to international standards such as VietGAP and GlobalGAP in key areas such as Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

Today's world pepper prices

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on March 22nd (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices fell slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$7,267/ton (down 0.12%). Similarly, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$10,207/ton (down 0.12%).

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,000 per ton.

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices rose slightly compared to yesterday, currently at US$9,900/ton (up 1.01%). Additionally, ASTA white pepper prices also increased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$12,400/ton (up 0.81%).

Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$7,100/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$7,300/ton.

Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $10,100 per ton.

In the first 15 days of March 2025, Vietnam exported 7,139 tons of pepper, achieving a total value of US$49.1 million. The three largest markets for Vietnamese pepper during this period were the United States (1,268 tons), India (649 tons), and Germany (638 tons).

Conversely, Vietnam also imported 1,731 tons of pepper, worth $10.3 million. The main source of imports was Brazil, accounting for 67.4% with 1,167 tons, followed by Indonesia with 397 tons, accounting for 22.9%.

In the short term, domestic pepper prices are forecast to decrease slightly due to the main harvest season and localized supply increases. However, on the international market, pepper prices are predicted to continue their upward trend thanks to high consumer demand and still limited global supply.
