Today, April 23rd, the domestic price of pepper is between 154,000 and 155,000 VND/kg. The price has decreased slightly by 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Localities are entering the final stages of the pepper harvest, and the rapidly increasing supply is putting pressure on the market.

Today's pepper prices in some key growing regions have decreased slightly compared to yesterday. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is between 154,000 VND/kg and 155,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 155,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 154,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Dak Nong remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 155,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 154,000 VND/kg, down 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai also saw a decrease of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday, now at 154,000 VND/kg.
In addition, the price of pepper in Binh Phuoc today remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 154,000 VND/kg.
Currently, localities are entering the final stage of the pepper harvest. Sunny weather is facilitating harvesting, drying, and storage. However, the rapidly increasing supply is putting pressure on the market.
Nevertheless, this year's pepper production is expected to be lower than last year due to prolonged drought in major growing regions such as the Central Highlands and the Southeast. While some recent rains have helped alleviate the drought, they have significantly affected flower bud differentiation in already harvested orchards, potentially leading to a decline in yield for the next crop.
Despite reduced yields, pepper farmers remain reassured by stable prices. This year, even during the peak harvest season, domestic pepper prices have fluctuated around 150,000 VND/kg. This is different from previous years, when prices usually dropped sharply during harvest due to increased supply. The reason is that farmers are not under as much financial pressure this year, so they tend to hold onto their stock, only selling when necessary.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on April 22nd (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,056/ton. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also remained stable from yesterday at US$9,641/ton.
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,900 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at US$9,600/ton. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$12,100/ton.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$6,800/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$6,900/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,800 per ton.
Taking advantage of the 90-day temporary suspension of US tariffs, many Vietnamese businesses have managed to sign new export contracts. At the same time, demand for pepper from emerging markets such as the Middle East and Africa is rapidly increasing, creating significant opportunities to expand market share.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), the increase in export pepper prices is a positive sign, motivating businesses to upgrade quality and expand their product portfolios. The current trend is shifting towards organic, traceable, and sustainable pepper products. This is a mandatory requirement if Vietnam wants to maintain its competitive advantage and assert its position in the global market.
VPSA forecasts that pepper exports in the second quarter will face many difficulties. High pepper prices are putting significant financial pressure on import-export businesses. In addition, the US tariff policy may change unexpectedly, making signing long-term orders riskier at the present time.
