Today, April 24th, domestic pepper prices are at 154,000 - 155,000 VND/kg. Prices remain stable compared to yesterday. VPSA forecasts that export activities may face many challenges in the second quarter due to high prices.
Today's pepper prices in the domestic market (April 24, 2025)
Today's pepper prices in some key growing regions remained stable compared to yesterday. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is between 154,000 VND/kg and 155,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 155,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 154,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Dak Nong remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 155,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 154,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai also remains unchanged from yesterday at 154,000 VND/kg.
In addition, the price of pepper in Binh Phuoc today remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 154,000 VND/kg.
According to data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first quarter of this year, Vietnam's pepper exports to China reached 2,034 tons, a sharp increase of 87.8% compared to the same period last year.
However, compared to 2023, this figure is still 92.2% lower. China has risen to fourth place among Vietnam's largest pepper export markets, with its market share increasing from 1.9% to 4.3%.
The sharp increase in pepper exports to China indicates that the country is running out of pepper reserves. However, exports remain restricted due to China's tightened controls on goods crossing the border. The high costs of sea transport are deterring many Chinese importers from placing orders.
Domestically, pepper production is being significantly affected by weather conditions. Prolonged droughts in the early months of 2025 have negatively impacted major pepper-growing regions in the Central Highlands and Southeast Vietnam.
Although some recent rains have helped improve the situation, it is not enough to fully restore the pepper gardens. Late rains could also disrupt the development of flower buds, leading to a risk of reduced yield for the next crop.
While production is showing signs of decline, domestic pepper prices remain high, providing reassurance to growers. Vietnam is currently entering its peak harvesting season, which is expected to last until the end of April.
Unlike previous years, when prices usually fell due to a sharp increase in supply, this year pepper prices have remained around 150,000 VND/kg. The main reason is that farmers are holding onto their stock and are not under pressure to sell early as before.
In early April, pepper prices briefly declined, but then quickly recovered and rose sharply. By mid-April, domestic pepper prices had approached 160,000 VND/kg.
Although high prices are a positive sign for pepper growers, they create considerable difficulties for export businesses. VPSA forecasts that in the second quarter, export activities may face many challenges due to high prices reducing purchasing power and affecting the financial capacity of importing partners.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on April 23 (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices rose sharply compared to yesterday, reaching US$7,056/ton (up 0.68%). Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper prices decreased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$9,614/ton (down 0.28%).
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,900 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at US$9,600/ton. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$12,100/ton.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$6,800/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$6,900/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,800 per ton.
