Since the beginning of August 2025, domestic pepper prices have increased by nearly 10,000 VND/kg. After a sharp decline in the previous quarter, the market has shown a clear recovery since the beginning of the third quarter. Although trading is not very active due to limited supply at the end of the season, the high price level has created a positive sentiment among pepper farmers.
Domestic pepper prices are poised to reach a new benchmark, with many forecasts suggesting that the 150,000 VND/kg mark could be surpassed in the near future. This is due to declining supply, while domestic and international demand remains stable and is trending upwards.
Experts believe there is still room for price increases as the market enters a rush of trading ahead of the Independence Day holiday. In addition, investors are awaiting the Fed's decision on a US dollar interest rate cut in September 2025, a factor that could positively impact commodity markets, including pepper.
Import demand from major markets such as China, the US, Europe, and the Middle East continues to increase. Domestic businesses are also stepping up procurement to serve processing and export during the year-end period. Along with this, escalating international logistics costs due to fluctuations in shipping rates are further driving up domestic pepper prices.
Today's pepper prices (August 27th) in the world market.
On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on August 26th (local time) as follows:

Vietnamese pepper exports to the US in the first half of this year showed a downward trend, mainly due to the adjustment period before the new tariff policy. However, forecasts indicate that from Q4 2025 to Q1 2026, the US will increase orders in preparation for the peak consumption season. With the advantage of lower tariffs than competing countries and stable supply capacity, Vietnamese pepper is expected to recover strongly in the US market in the second half of the year.
Pepper production in 2025 is expected to decrease due to shrinking planting areas and some farmers switching to other crops. In addition, unfavorable weather conditions have led to lower yields compared to previous years, further exacerbating the scarcity of supply.
Not only has production decreased, but the amount of goods circulating in the market is also very limited. Current inventories are only sufficient for just over a month of consumption, while many businesses and traders are proactively hoarding goods, waiting for higher prices before selling. The continuous oversupply of demand over the past five years has kept global inventories low, further driving up pepper prices.
According to statistics, Vietnam's pepper exports in the first half of August 2025 reached US$71.8 million, bringing the total export value from the beginning of the year to August 15th to US$1.06 billion. The latest report from Nedspice shows that global pepper production in 2025 will reach approximately 434,000 tons, equivalent to last year.
