Today's pepper prices in the domestic market (April 28, 2025)

Today's pepper prices in some key growing regions remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Therefore, the average domestic pepper price is between 154,500 VND/kg and 156,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 156,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 154,500 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Dak Nong remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 156,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 155,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai also remains unchanged from yesterday at 155,000 VND/kg.

Additionally, today's pepper price in Binh Phuoc remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 155,000 VND/kg.

In summary, over the past week, domestic pepper prices, despite fluctuating up and down on some days, have generally remained relatively unchanged compared to the previous week.

Specifically, last week only the price of pepper in Gia Lai decreased by 500 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of pepper in other provinces and cities remained unchanged.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), global pepper production is expected to continue to decline in 2025 in countries such as India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka.

The main reasons stem from low economic profitability, unfavorable weather conditions, and rising production costs. The IPC forecasts that world pepper production will decrease by 6.1%, while consumption demand continues to increase, helping pepper prices remain high throughout 2025.

In Brazil, pepper production in 2025 is estimated at 85,000-90,000 tons, up from 75,000 tons in 2024. The average export price of Brazilian black pepper reached US$6,299/ton in the first quarter, up 82.8% year-on-year, but down slightly by 2.7% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.

Indonesia also recorded a 6% increase in pepper production, reaching 69,000 tons in 2024, but is expected to see an 8.7% decrease in 2025 due to weather difficulties. The average FOB price of Indonesian black pepper in the first quarter reached US$7,201/ton, an 80% increase year-on-year in 2024 and a 7% increase compared to the previous quarter. The price of white pepper reached US$9,807/ton, also a 59% increase year-on-year and an 8% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, due to reduced inventory.

In India, pepper production in 2025 is projected to decrease by approximately 38% to around 78,000 tonnes due to reduced planting area and adverse weather conditions in Karnataka. The average FOB export price of Indian black pepper in Q1 2025 is expected to reach US$7,813 per tonne, a 16% increase year-on-year, the lowest among major producing countries.

Malaysia recorded the strongest price increase in the first quarter of 2025. Export prices for black pepper increased by 89% year-on-year and by 9% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. White pepper prices also increased by 62% compared to the first quarter of 2024.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on April 26 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,126/tonne. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,643/tonne (up 0.32%).

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,900 per ton.

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,300/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country remained stable at US$11,900/tonne.

Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) is 6,800 USD/ton; and the price of 550 gr/l is 6,900 USD/ton.

Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,800 per ton.
