Today's pepper prices in key growing regions have surged, reaching the important milestone of 150,000 VND/kg. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is now between 147,600 VND/kg and 150,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak increased sharply by 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 150,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Gia Lai increased by 1600 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 147,600 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong) increased by 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 150,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is 148,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai also saw an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 148,000 VND/kg.

Additionally, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) increased by 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 148,000 VND/kg.

Domestic pepper prices continue to rise due to several positive factors. Domestic supply has begun to become limited as the harvest is nearing its end, while demand from processing and export businesses has also increased after a period of stagnation. In addition, pepper prices in India and Brazil are showing signs of slight increases, pulling domestic prices up as well.

According to Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Chu Se Pepper Association (Gia Lai), the current production cost of pepper ranges from 70,000 to 80,000 VND/kg.

Compared to the past, current selling prices have brought more attractive profits to farmers, encouraging them to return to pepper cultivation. However, according to Mr. Binh, the number of households planting new crops or replanting is very small and insignificant. Annually, the rate of natural death of pepper plants in gardens is around 5-7%, and the area of ​​new planting is still lower than this figure.

For export businesses, orders from European and American markets are gradually improving after months of disruption. International shipping rates are also more stable, helping Vietnamese pepper maintain its competitiveness. Notably, many international customers are willing to accept higher prices due to concerns about supply shortages at the end of the year.

With an average price of nearly 149,000 VND/kg, many farmers have started to see significant profits compared to the beginning of the year when prices were below 130,000 VND/kg. However, experts still advise farmers to be cautious about unpredictable market fluctuations, as pepper prices depend heavily on the global situation and domestic supply and demand.

In the short term, the outlook for pepper prices is considered positive as supply continues to shrink and the export market shows signs of recovery. If international demand remains stable, the possibility of domestic prices exceeding 150,000 VND/kg in the near future is entirely plausible.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on August 27th (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices fell slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$7,262/ton (down 0.48%). Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also decreased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$10,093/ton (down 0.49%).

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices rose slightly compared to yesterday, reaching $6,400 per ton (up 1.56%).

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,600/tonne. Similarly, ASTA white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$12,800/tonne.

Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$6,240/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$6,370/ton.

Additionally, the price of Vietnamese white pepper increased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$9,150 per ton (up 2.19%).
