Today's pepper prices in key growing regions have risen to their highest level in the past four months. As a result, the average domestic pepper price ranges from 149,500 VND/kg to 152,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak increased sharply by 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 152,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Gia Lai increased by 1900 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 149,500 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong) increased by 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 152,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is 150,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai also saw an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 150,000 VND/kg.

Additionally, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) increased by 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 150,000 VND/kg.

Domestic pepper prices have recently surged to their highest level in four months. According to a member of VPSA, the main reason is that we are at the end of the harvest season. The pepper harvest ended in May, and most small-scale farmers have already sold their pepper because they lack the capacity to store it. Only large-scale producers with sufficient financial resources can hold onto their stock and sell it in batches.

Global demand for pepper is increasing in preparation for the year-end festivities. In addition, the US imposition of a 50% tariff on goods from Brazil has created a competitive advantage for Vietnamese pepper. As a result, domestic pepper prices have exceeded 150,000 VND/kg.

Vietnam has a significant advantage in terms of lower export tariffs compared to other supplying countries, along with stable supply capabilities. This provides a solid foundation for expecting a strong recovery in pepper exports to the US market in the second half of 2025.

Overall, the domestic pepper industry is enjoying a double benefit: high domestic prices while exports remain stable and international demand remains strong. This is a very positive sign after many years of volatility.

Today's pepper prices (August 29th) on the world market.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on August 28 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,262/ton. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$10,093/ton.

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,400 per ton.

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,600/tonne. Similarly, ASTA white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$12,800/tonne.

Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$6,240/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$6,370/ton.

In addition, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,150 per ton.

According to forecasts from experts and the Import-Export Department, world pepper prices will continue to rise in the final months of the year. Major markets, especially the US, are expected to significantly increase their purchases again. Currently, US importers are actively lobbying the government to reduce tariffs to 0% as they are entirely dependent on imported pepper.

However, these efforts have so far been unsuccessful. Importing businesses in the US are still subject to the full current tariffs. This directly impacts the cost and price of products.

Regarding exports, Vietnam's pepper export value in the first half of August reached US$71.8 million. The total export value from the beginning of the year to August 15th has reached US$1.06 billion. This is an impressive figure, as this industry has surpassed US$1 billion in just 7.5 months.

Export pepper prices are improving, closely following the upward trend in the domestic market. Limited supply is considered a key factor in maintaining high prices. The 2025 harvest has concluded with an estimated yield of 180,000 tons, 10,000 tons lower than the previous year.
