Experts predict that domestic pepper prices may increase due to many factors. Currently, pepper trading volume is not much but is expected to increase in the last months of the year, to meet shopping demand for Tet.
Vietnam’s pepper prices are likely to rise due to high demand during the Tet holiday. PTEXIM Corp, a leading Vietnamese pepper exporter, said China has started buying more white pepper after Typhoon Yagi damaged white pepper growing areas in Hainan.
White pepper supply in China is expected to be tight due to increased demand in the last quarter of the year and during the Lunar New Year.

Vietnam's Import-Export Department believes that pepper prices will remain stable at high levels in the short term due to low supply. Brazil and Indonesia, two major pepper producing countries, are in the harvest season but global demand has not increased significantly and China has not imported much, so prices are expected to increase only slightly.
In the long term, Vietnam's pepper export prices may be maintained due to the forecast of a decrease in the 2025 crop output. The 2025 pepper crop in Vietnam is expected to be harvested mainly in February, and may last until March and April, 1-2 months later than usual due to drought, reducing supply.
The Import-Export Department also predicted that the Vietnamese pepper industry would benefit from high export prices due to reduced supply. The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) said that the amount of pepper is currently very low, remaining only at agents and warehouses of enterprises.
