Today's pepper prices in the domestic market (May 31, 2025)

Today's pepper prices in some key growing regions continued to fall sharply compared to yesterday. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is between 145,000 VND/kg and 146,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak decreased by 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 146,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Gia Lai decreased by 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 145,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Dak Nong remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 146,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 145,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai also saw a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, now at 145,000 VND/kg.

Additionally, today's pepper price in Binh Phuoc decreased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 145,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper prices (May 31st) on the world market.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on May 30th (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,427/ton. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$10,125/ton.

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,650 per ton.

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,150/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$11,850/tonne.

Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) is 6,500 USD/ton; and the price of 550 gr/l is 6,600 USD/ton.

Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,500 per ton.

According to data from the Customs Department, in the first 15 days of May, Vietnam exported 10,596 tons of pepper, earning $74.6 million. Compared to the same period last year, production decreased by 20.3% and value decreased by 25.1%, showing a clear downward trend.

From the beginning of the year until May 15th, total pepper exports reached 84,243 tons, bringing in nearly 583 million USD. Although production decreased by 12.6%, export value increased by 41.6% thanks to a sharp rise in export prices, averaging 6,920 USD/ton, 62% higher than the previous year.

Vietnam remains the largest exporter of pepper to the US market, with nearly 72,500 tons exported in 2024, accounting for 31% of total export value. This is also the highest export level ever recorded to this market. However, the trade relationship is under pressure due to new US tariff policies.

According to experts, Vietnamese pepper is currently facing increasingly fierce competition from products from Brazil and Indonesia, due to the lower tariffs applied to these two countries. This is putting Vietnamese pepper at a disadvantage in the race for market share.

Furthermore, the domestic pepper industry is also facing drought conditions in many key areas. To adapt, localities such as Dak Lak have shifted towards organic farming and applied digital technology to improve product quality and enhance traceability.

The global pepper market was quite active in the first few months of 2025, with high demand in the US and China. At the same time, Brazil and Indonesia also increased exports, intensifying competition.

Against this backdrop, developing standardized growing areas and promoting linkages between farmers, cooperatives, and businesses are considered key solutions. The goal is to maintain export turnover at $1.5 billion in 2025, while also preserving Vietnam's position in the global pepper market.
