Domestic pepper prices

Today's pepper prices in key growing regions remain high compared to yesterday. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is between 139,000 VND/kg and 140,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 140,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 139,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong) remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 140,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is 139,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai also remains unchanged from yesterday at 139,000 VND/kg.

Additionally, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 139,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper prices (August 7th) in the world market.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on August 5th (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices rose slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$7,112/ton (up 0.06%). Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also increased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$9,942/ton (up 0.05%).

The price of Brazilian ASTA black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,000 per ton.

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$8,900/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$11,750/tonne.

Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$6,240/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$6,370/ton.

Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,950 per ton.

In July 2025, Vietnam exported over 20,900 tons of pepper, including approximately 18,300 tons of black pepper and over 2,500 tons of white pepper, with a total value of 137.5 million USD.

The average export price of black pepper reached US$6,395 per ton, a slight decrease compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, white pepper recorded a significant increase, reaching US$8,570 per ton, US$298 per ton higher than in June.

The sharp rise in white pepper prices amidst a decline in black pepper prices has attracted the attention of experts. The main reason stems from the low production of white pepper due to its complex production process. In addition, unfavorable weather conditions in key growing regions such as Dak Lak and Gia Lai have reduced the amount of ripe pepper, the main raw material for processing white pepper, leading to limited supply.

Besides supply factors, demand from major markets such as the US, Europe, and Japan has also increased sharply. White pepper is preferred in countries with high standards due to its light color, low odor, and suitability for industrial processing. July is also the time when businesses begin preparing orders for the year-end consumer season, contributing to the rapid increase in demand in the short term.

The price difference between white and black pepper is currently quite large because white pepper accounts for a low proportion of total exports, so even small fluctuations in demand are enough to cause a sharp increase in price.

If supply remains limited and demand from Europe continues to rise, white pepper prices could remain high in the near future. However, the increase may slow down if favorable weather conditions improve production or businesses boost sales.
