Pepper prices today, August 8, 2025: Dak Lak sees a slight increase.
Today, August 8th, domestic pepper prices are at 139,000 - 141,000 VND/kg. Domestic pepper prices remain unchanged compared to yesterday, except for Dak Lak pepper prices which increased slightly by 1000 VND/kg. Pepper exports in the first 7 months of the year are close to reaching the billion-dollar mark thanks to strong price increases.

Today's pepper prices in key growing regions remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Therefore, the average domestic pepper price is between 139,000 VND/kg and 141,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak increased slightly by 1000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 141,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 139,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong) remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 140,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is 139,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai also remains unchanged from yesterday at 139,000 VND/kg.
Additionally, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 139,000 VND/kg.
According to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in July 2025, Vietnam imported over 3,100 tons of various types of pepper with a value of US$21.3 million. Compared to the previous month, import volume decreased by nearly 48%, and value also decreased by more than 43%. Black pepper accounted for the majority with nearly 2,900 tons, while white pepper made up the remainder.
The three largest pepper importers in the month were Olam with over 1200 tons, KSS with 243 tons, and Nedspice with 226 tons. In terms of supply, Brazil was Vietnam's largest partner, providing nearly 1600 tons, accounting for almost 50% of total imports. Cambodia and Indonesia followed with significantly decreased import volumes.
According to Mr. Le Viet Anh, General Secretary of VPSA, the reason many businesses choose to import pepper is because the price of pepper from Brazil and Indonesia is significantly cheaper than domestic pepper. The production cost in Brazil is only about 2 USD/kg, equivalent to 52,000 - 53,000 VND, while in Vietnam it ranges from 65,000 - 70,000 VND/kg. The price of Indonesian pepper is also sometimes about 100 USD/ton lower than in Vietnam.
Increased pepper imports are seen as a strategy by large businesses amidst declining domestic production, rising global prices, and growing demand for processing and re-export. Importing from countries with lower prices helps them secure a competitive supply of raw materials for export.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on August 7th (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices rose slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$7,142/ton (up 0.42%). Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also increased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$9,983/ton (up 0.41%).
The price of Brazilian ASTA black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,000 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$8,900/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$11,750/tonne.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$6,240/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$6,370/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,950 per ton.
In the first seven months of 2025, Vietnam exported more than 145,000 tons of pepper, mainly black pepper with over 124,000 tons and white pepper reaching nearly 21,000 tons.
Total export value reached US$988 million, a 29.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024, despite an 11.7% decrease in production. The average export price of black pepper reached US$6,713/ton and white pepper was US$8,756/ton, a significant increase compared to the previous year.
The largest exporter was Olam Vietnam with over 14,200 tons, accounting for nearly 10% of the market share, but a slight decrease compared to the same period last year. Nedspice Vietnam exported nearly 13,000 tons, a slight increase. Meanwhile, companies such as Phuc Sinh, Simexco Dak Lak, and Haprosimex JSC all recorded a decline in export volume.
Regarding consumption markets, the US continues to be the largest destination with nearly 31,000 tons, accounting for over 21% of total exports, but this represents a sharp decrease of almost 29%. Several other markets showed good growth, such as China (up over 36%), India (up 10%), while the UAE saw a slight increase and Germany experienced a nearly 28% decrease.
