Pepper prices today, September 8, 2025: Week ends with stable prices.
Today, September 8th, pepper prices are at 150,000 - 152,000 VND/kg. Overall for the week, only Gia Lai pepper prices saw a slight decrease of 1000 VND. The average export price of pepper increased significantly.
Domestic pepper prices
Today's pepper prices in key growing regions remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Therefore, the average domestic pepper price is between 150,000 VND/kg and 152,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 152,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 150,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong) remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 152,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is 151,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai also remains unchanged from yesterday at 151,000 VND/kg.
Additionally, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.
Domestic pepper prices reversed course and fell at the end of the week, erasing all the gains achieved in the early days of the week. Overall for the week, only Gia Lai pepper prices decreased by 1000 VND/kg compared to the previous week, reaching the lowest level in the market.
Cumulatively from the beginning of the year to the end of August 2025, total pepper export turnover reached US$1,127.8 million, an increase of 28% compared to the same period last year, but export volume decreased by 9.4%. The main reason is the sharp increase in average export prices. Specifically, the price of black pepper reached US$6,666/ton and the price of white pepper reached US$8,732/ton. These prices increased by 41.5% for black pepper and 38.0% for white pepper respectively compared to the same period in 2024.
Regarding markets, the United States continues to be the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper, accounting for 21.4% of the market share. However, exports to this market in the first eight months of the year are estimated at 35,697 tons, a decrease of 31.1% compared to the same period last year. Although there was a slight improvement in August, it was still not enough to compensate for the decline in the early months of the year.
Besides the United States, several other major markets also recorded mixed results. The Chinese market saw impressive growth of 58.3%, reaching 13,282 tons and accounting for 8% of the market share. Markets such as the UAE (12,886 tons, up 9.7%) and India (10,335 tons, up 13.7%) also showed positive growth. Conversely, exports to Germany decreased by 27%, reaching 8,780 tons.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on September 7th (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,086/tonne. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$10,042/tonne.
Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,600 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,700/tonne. Similarly, ASTA white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$12,900/tonne.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$6,240/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$6,370/ton.
In addition, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,150 per ton.
At the end of last week, the International Pepper Association (IPC) listed Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices down 1.8% ($130/tonne) compared to the previous week. In contrast, Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper prices surged 3.13% ($200/tonne).
In Malaysia, the prices of Malaysian ASTA black pepper and Vietnamese export black pepper remained stable. At the same time of the survey, Indonesian Muntok white pepper increased by 0.14% (US$14/ton). Meanwhile, Vietnamese export white pepper and Malaysian ASTA white pepper remained unchanged throughout the past week.
