Pepper prices today, March 9, 2025: Slightly decreased in Dak Lak.
Today, March 9th, the price of pepper in Vietnam is between 159,000 and 162,000 VND/kg. The price of pepper decreased slightly by 500 VND/kg in Dak Lak compared to yesterday.
Domestic pepper prices today
The highest pepper purchase price recorded in key pepper-growing regions (Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc) was 162,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, in Dak Nong province, the price of pepper is 162,000 VND/kg. This remains unchanged from yesterday.
In Gia Lai, the price of pepper is 159,000 VND/kg. This remains unchanged from yesterday.
In Dak Lak, the price of pepper is 161,500 VND/kg, a slight decrease of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
In Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai provinces, the price of pepper today is 159,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.
In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the price of pepper today is 159,000 VND/kg. This is unchanged from yesterday.
Thus, the lowest price for pepper in the domestic market today is 159,000 VND/kg.
By the end of 2024, Vietnam's pepper growing area reached 110,500 hectares, with an average yield of 26 quintals/hectare, double the world average. Total production reached approximately 200,000 tons.
Vietnam continues to maintain its leading position in the global pepper industry, accounting for 35% of total global production and nearly 55% of total export value.
At the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Industry International Conference 2025, experts noted that erratic weather is affecting crop yields in many major pepper-producing countries such as Brazil, India, and China.
Therefore, global pepper production in 2025 is projected to continue to decline to 434,000 tons. Meanwhile, inventories are also trending downwards to new lows. Given this situation, pepper prices may continue to rise this year.
Today's world pepper prices
On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on March 9th (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,376/ton. Similarly, Muntok white pepper prices decreased slightly from yesterday to US$10,242/ton.
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,850 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,800/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also stayed the same as yesterday at US$12,300/tonne.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained stable compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$7,000/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$7,200/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday at $10,000 per ton.
In February 2025, Vietnam imported 2,929 tons of pepper, including 1,716 tons of black pepper and 1,213 tons of white pepper. The total import value reached US$15.9 million, an increase of 61.2% compared to the previous month.
From the beginning of the year until February 28, 2025, the total amount of imported pepper reached 4,746 tons, including 2,469 tons of black pepper and 2,277 tons of white pepper. The import value reached 26.8 million USD, an increase of 11.4% in volume and 74.1% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
Indonesia continued to be Vietnam's largest supplier of pepper in the first two months of 2025. Pepper imports from Indonesia reached 2,730 tons, a dramatic increase of 5.9 times (equivalent to 493.5%) compared to the same period last year, accounting for 57.5% of the total supply.
Conversely, imports from Brazil and Cambodia decreased sharply. Specifically, imports from Brazil fell by 55.2%, reaching 1,302 tons, while imports from Cambodia decreased by 46%, reaching only 221 tons.
