Pepper prices today, July 9, 2025: Scattered sharp declines.
Today, July 9th, domestic pepper prices are at 140,000 - 142,000 VND/kg. Domestic pepper prices have seen scattered drops of 1,000 to 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Pepper exports are increasing sharply, and Vietnamese businesses are shifting their strategies.
Domestic pepper prices
Today's pepper prices in key growing regions have seen scattered and sharp declines compared to yesterday. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is between 140,000 VND/kg and 142,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak has dropped sharply by 2000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 142,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 140,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Dak Nong remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 141,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is 140,000 VND/kg, down 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai also saw a decrease of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, now at 140,000 VND/kg.
Additionally, today's pepper price in Binh Phuoc decreased by 1000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 140,000 VND/kg.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on July 8th (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices rose slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$7,547/ton (up 0.24%). Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also increased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching US$10,195/ton (up 0.25%).
Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices fell slightly compared to yesterday, standing at $6,225 per ton (down 0.4%).
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$8,900/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$11,750/tonne.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached US$6,440/ton; and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached US$6,570/ton.
Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,150 per ton.
With a sharp increase in pepper exports, Vietnamese businesses are shifting their strategies amid the risk of supply shortages.
In the first six months of the year, Vietnam exported over 124,000 tons of pepper, while domestic inventories dropped sharply due to this year's harvest being predicted to be the lowest in many years. With eight months remaining until the 2026 harvest, supply is becoming even more limited.
However, pepper prices still face several risks such as exchange rate fluctuations, rising logistics costs, and competitive pressure from Brazil and Indonesia.
Against this backdrop, domestic businesses are advised to restructure their supply chains and prioritize signing medium- to long-term contracts instead of relying on short-term orders.
Between 2023 and March 2025, the Netherlands imported 3,590 tons of pepper, with Vietnam accounting for more than half at 2,065 tons, far surpassing competitors such as Brazil, Indonesia, and India.
Vietnam is currently the world's leading pepper exporter, and the increased import of raw materials from abroad by domestic businesses is becoming a strategy to cope with declining domestic supply. This is not just a temporary solution but also reflects a proactive adaptation to fluctuations in the global supply chain.
