Domestic gold prices today, February 7, 2025, began to rise slightly on the day of the God of Wealth festival. The price of gold bars in the domestic market this morning was adjusted upwards to 90 million VND/ounce for the selling price.
Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) this morning listed the price of gold rings (1-5 tael) at 86.8-90.3 million VND/tael (buy - sell), an increase of 400,000 VND per tael in the buying price and an increase of 700,000 VND per tael in the selling price compared to the closing price of yesterday's trading session.
Similarly, Doji Gold and Gemstone Group this morning raised the price of 9999 gold rings to 86.6-90.3 million VND/ounce (buy - sell), an increase of 600,000 VND/ounce in both buying and selling prices compared to yesterday's closing price.
At the opening of trading on February 7th, the price of 9999 gold from SJC increased by 100,000 VND per tael for buying and 400,000 VND per tael for selling compared to the closing price of yesterday's trading session, reaching 86.5-89.5 million VND/tael (buying - selling).

The central exchange rate for February 7th, announced by the State Bank of Vietnam, is 24,462 VND/USD, an increase of 37 VND compared to the previous trading session. The USD exchange rate at commercial banks this morning (February 7th) is commonly quoted at 25,060 VND/USD (buying) and 25,450 VND/USD (selling).
What has the price of gold been on the day of the God of Wealth over the past 10 years?
For over a decade, every year on the day of the God of Wealth (the 10th day of the first lunar month), thousands of people flock to gold shops to buy this precious metal in order to pray for good fortune and abundant wealth.
Normally, gold prices rise before Tet (Lunar New Year) and then fall sharply on the morning of the 9th day, but this year the price has held up quite well, remaining high around 90 million VND, and supply is scarce.
Over the past five years, the price of gold on the day of the God of Wealth has followed a familiar pattern: it drops just before the day, then surges on the day itself, and finally cools down towards the end of the day, sometimes even falling sharply in the following days.
Early this morning, February 7th, even though shops don't open until 6:30 AM, dozens of people were already huddled in the cold rain as early as 3 AM, waiting to buy gold for the God of Wealth festival.
Several gold brands have reported that the amount of gold bars and rings prepared for this year's God of Wealth Day is lower than the same period last year. However, the quantity of gold sold will not be limited. Many products are predicted to sell out quickly on God of Wealth Day due to limited supply.
This year, amidst complex global geopolitical and economic conditions, gold has maintained its position as an important asset. The upward price trend is expected to continue by many.
