World gold price today, May 8, 2026, and chart of world gold price fluctuations over the past 24 hours.
According to Kitco, the spot price of gold in the world market at 4:30 PM Vietnam time today was $4716 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by $30.4 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted using the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,367 VND/USD), the world gold price is approximately 149.92 million VND/ounce (excluding taxes and fees). Therefore, the price of SJC gold bars is currently 17.58 million VND/ounce higher than the international gold price.

Global gold prices have rebounded and are heading towards their first weekly gain after several volatile sessions. Market sentiment is supported by expectations that the US and Iran may still reach a peace agreement, despite renewed military clashes between the two sides. This development is providing support for international gold prices.
Specifically, the spot gold price rose 0.65%. Overall for the week, gold prices increased by approximately 2%. US gold futures contracts for June delivery also rose slightly by 0.1% to $4,716.50 per ounce.
Despite renewed gunfire between the US and Iran on Thursday, Iran stated that the situation was quickly brought under control, while the US insisted it did not want further escalation. These signals helped the market maintain hope for a long-term agreement, thereby supporting gold prices.
Kyle Rodda said that recent statements from the US administration regarding the continued ceasefire are supporting gold prices. According to the expert, the market remains optimistic that the US and Iran can reach an agreement in the near future.
Gold prices have fallen more than 10% since the conflict erupted in late February due to a sharp rise in oil prices. When oil prices escalate, inflation is typically pressured upwards, forcing central banks to maintain high interest rates. A high-interest-rate environment is usually detrimental to gold prices because gold does not generate yields like deposits or bonds.
According to Kyle Rodda, the gold market is currently highly sensitive to any information related to US-Iran relations. The expert predicts that gold prices could fluctuate sharply in the short term as investors continuously await new news before the end of the trading week.
Investors are currently focused on the US jobs report, to be released later today, to assess the direction of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy. A Reuters survey suggests that non-farm payrolls in the US may have increased by around 62,000 last month, significantly lower than the 178,000 increase in March. This data could directly influence the trend of gold prices in the coming period.
Besides gold, other precious metals also saw sharp increases. Spot silver rose 1.5% to $79.68 per ounce, platinum increased 1.2% to $2,045.38 per ounce, and palladium gained 1.4% to $1,500.91 per ounce.
