Gold prices may rise in the final week of the year.

Most experts and investors believe that gold prices will rise in the final week of 2015, although it is almost certain that the precious metal will end the year lower.

Gold prices are heading for a higher closing week of the year.

Opening the Asian trading session in the final week of 2015, gold prices edged slightly higher to $1,077 per ounce. With this relatively high price, many experts believe this will be the basis for further gold price increases this week.

Yesterday, the domestic market closed at 32.97 - 33.02 million VND per tael. Thus, SJC gold is still nearly 4 million VND more expensive than the world price per tael (excluding taxes and processing fees).

According to Kitco's survey, among 14 respondents – including experts, gold dealers, investment banks, futures traders, and technical chart analysts – 7, or 50%, said they expect to see higher prices next week. At the same time, 3 analysts (21%) expect to see lower prices, and 4 (29%) hold a stable view.

Additionally, this week, out of 194 participants in Kitco's online survey, 83 (46%) were optimistic about gold in the short term; 68, or 37%, predicted a price drop, and the remaining 43 (13%) were neutral on gold prices.

Nevertheless, gold prices remain firmly poised to end the year on a losing streak. As of December 28th, each ounce of gold had lost more than 10% of its value since the beginning of 2015.
